Norm Parker coached the defensive line at Minnesota as an assistant to Cal Stoll - 1972-76. He followed Cal Stoll from Wake Forest when Cal was appointed head coach in '72.

Parker had other stops in the Big 10, including Michigan State and Illinois.

He served as Kirk Ferentz's defensive coordinator from 1999 through the 2011 season. It was during his tenure at Iowa City that the Hawkeyes became known as having stout defenses - bend don't break.

Norm Parker was respected and well thought of in the coaching fraternity.

RIP, Norm Parker
