per this update from CalSportsDigest.com:

College of Sequoias (Calif.) sent over 10 players to FBS colleges last season, and 19 overall to four-year colleges. This year the talent pool doesn’t drop, and Cal is taking a closer look at three Giant players for the 2010 class, including extending an offer to a mammoth 6-foot-7, 310-pound offensive tackle…

Roszell Gayden (6-7, 310) originally committed to Minnesota during his junior season of high school. However, due to academic shortfalls he did not sign his National Letter of Intent in February 2008. His initial plans were to grayshirt and enroll in the spring, but he eventually enrolled at Visalia (Calif.) College of Sequoias last summer.
Last season, his standout play has made him a preseason JUCO All-American candidate for 2009. Furthermore, it has increased his recruitment including a look from California.

Golden Bear special team coach Pete Alamar visited COS last week to evaluate Gayden, defensive tackle Lavon McCoy, and safety Shamar Gaines, according to COS assistant coach Tony Perry.

“[Coach Alamar] liked Gayden,” Perry told CalSportsDigest. “He got his paper (official offer) this past weekend.”

Perry said Gaines could be the next COS player to pick up a Cal offer. “Gaines is powerful,” he added. Perry, COS’s defensive back coach, sent seven of his defensive backs to four-colleges in 2008, including four to FBS. He calls Gaines better than the four that signed last season with FBS schools.

“They like [McCoy] too,” said Perry. Nicknamed “280” because of his weight when he started playing football in junior high, McCoy is expected to garner major offers as he takes over the starting defensive tackle spot this season.

Gayden will be the most recruited player at COS this season. Besides Cal, Arizona State and Minnesota have extended official offers. He told us via text, he has verbal offers from Arkansas and Southern Mississippi.

Go Gophers!!

I hope Brewster can get him back.

I was wondering if that might not happen. Otherwise, I agree with mkAz

Looks like Gayden just added another Big XII offer today to go with his Cal, Arizona State and Arkansas offers. Johnny, any idea if Brew is still pushing for this kid?
