Two-time Superbowl Champion and former Golden Gopher Tyrone Carter was interviewed by Eric Nelson during the protests in Minneapolis.
“For the first time, in my life I never thought I would be faced with something like this in 2020.“
Carter briefly talked about learning how to be successful from the different cultures in Minneapolis when he first arrived at 17.
“I judge the heart not the outside appearance,” Carter said about how he views people.
He later went on to refer to former officer Chauvin’s actions as doing a “Colin Kapernick,” saying that the world had forgotten about him and the United States of America had never been united.
Kaepernick is a former NFL quarterback known for kneeling during the National Anthem in protest of police brutality during the 2016 season.
Carter brings up that many had said he was disrespecting the flag but that those people never understood the message behind his protest. He even mentions that he lost his career because of this protest.
“You got a police officer that is sworn to protect us,” Carter said, “what type of protection [is it] when you got one man [and] four police officers.”
“All the people asking for is fairness,” Carter said about the protests.
Carter questions what's united about the United States of America stating the issues it has. He claims that he will not be failed anymore by society. He also brought up those who served the country and that are homeless now.
The former Vikings draft pick was not happy about the racial injustice he had seen in America and in Minnesota.
