For those that were actually AT the game tonight, the Barn was pretty awesome...

I am as crushed as everyone tonight after this game, but based on what I've been reading tonight, this has to be said:

If you were actually AT the Barn tonight, the crowd was as electric as it's ever been. I've been going to games religiously for 11 years now, and when Sampson hit the hook shot to take the lead tonight, the crowd was as loud as I've ever heard it. The crowd was as loud as it has been for a longer period than I can remember, consistently trying to will the Gophers to victory.

Furthermore, lay of the students tonight. I was as hard on them as anyone leading up to this game, but they were great tonight. They were organized and together on everything they did, and if anyone wants to rag on them for anything tonight, you're way off. That 19-0 run had as much to do with the crowd, and the students in particular, as anything. During the final 10 minutes of the game, there was more passion in the crowd than there was at any point of the Wisconsin game, simply because the crowd was passionate about the Gophers, rather than against someone else.

Those who were not there will disagree, I'm sure. But I, personally, thought the crowd was awesome tonight...all of them. And anyone who thinks the crowd can do any better than what they did - nearly willing the Gophers to victory - is completely and totally on another planet.

Despite the loss, I may not have had a more fun time at the Barn than I did during the second half tonight...and it was the crowd that made it so.

Exactly right ATTF. I found myself amazed that Grant could hit that three with the place absolutely roaring. Great crowd and game. Bad result.

Great post...I'm a student and it was one of the loudest games I've been to in my 3 year career there.

During our run every basket was important and the crowd realized that. People were going nuts after every shot was made for basically the whole second half and that cheering continued into our defensive possessions. The energy was amazing!

agreed 100%

can you imagine what it'll be like when we're ranked and playing awesome teams out of conference?

I can't wait! :)

Agreed. It was everything I hoped for until Tubby called a TO and I knew we were going to lose.:(

I only have one complaint. Due to some good fortune, I am lucky to have prime seats. Everyone in the middle sections where I sit stands after a big play, but they never stay standing for even one defensive series. The only time we stood was during the final two minutes. And I am not a big "Stander" and will sit when others are to be respectful. But after some of these big plays, why can't people stay up at least through the next defensive series?

It was great in.....

the Barn last night........ loudest it has been in a long time....... The Fans are coming around as these kids start to gell.....

Heck the two older folks in front of me ( I am in my 50's :) that never clap or hear a sound out of went as far as to high five each other :) YES the Barn was fun....... Can it improve ... you darn right but it is going in the right direction just like the team is....... Fun time even if I am a little down...... The Barn was fun........

My ears were ringing a full 20 minutes after the game ended, and I felt like I personally played for 40 minutes with how exhausted I was.

It was a really stressful yet fun night. The loss really hurts, but you can't argue that Tubby and this team has injected some life into The Barn that we haven't seen for 10 years.

Last night was the perfect example of why College Basketball is the greatest sport on earth and there is nothing like seeing it live.
