San Diego State: AD Jim Sterk says a single donor has pledged $5 million to help retain Brady Hoke. Hoke is not in the running for the Minnesota job.

Vanderbilt: Here's the situation, we've been told that 6-8 interviews have been setup. We have learned that Phil Fulmer is not interested in the job despite an earlier report. We'll have more information a little bit later.

Go Gophers!!

Vanderbilt: Our sources tell us that former Tennessee head coach Phil Fulmer is definitely in the mix.

Colorado: A source near the situation told us late last night that Air Force head coach Troy Calhoun is no longer a candidate. We told you from the beginning that Alabama offensive coordinator Jim McElwain was interested in the job. We hear that McElwain has talked with AD Mike Bohn on at least two separate occasions.

Don't worry. I can guarantee you that within an hour, this will completely contradict itself once again. My guess this time will be that Hoke is back in the Running, while Fullmer will be in the loop at Miami, and Calhoun at Colorado.

I get why Fulmer would fit better at Vandy than in Minnesota. But why would anyone else want the Vandy job over Minnesota? It is not easier to win the SEC than in the Big 10 and they do not have TCF.

There's no reason Vandy is better. None. Perhaps this season the 'Big 10 West' would be better then the SEC East, but there's little doubt the SEC East will rise again, and Vandy will be forever battling Kentucky for 5th place. Add in the status as complete second-fiddle to UT, a dinky, much older stadium, having to compete with schools like MTSU, and the academic standards and it's one of the worst BCS jobs there is. Period. That Bobby Johnson got guys like Cutler and won as much as he did is a small miracle. The rumors of Golden being interested in Vandy while turning us down make almost no sense unless Maturi is literally scaring people away.
