"Minnesota: We have just been told that Brady Hoke, Paul Chryst, Troy Calhoun, and Randy Edsall have all informed Minnesota AD Joel Maturi that they are not interested in the head coaching job at Minnesota."

Go Gophers!!

Check Marc Trestman's cell phone for out-going calls to FootballScoop.

If this is legit (which I doubt, to some extent) this news/leak is coming from the U. No way FootballScoop got word from each of these candidates independently.

Correct. Sounds to me like the U thinks they have their guy.

And there is no way this came from the U - as if the U would want people to know coaches are saying "no"?

I don't buy it.

I don't see Golden's name on the list. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Where did you hear this? Link? (Edit: Just noticed the FootballScoop reference).

If so, it looks like a Black Monday for Minnesota. Can Maturi get the job done with who's left? (Golden, Mullen, dare I mention Leach or Trestman?)

FootballScoop also reports:

"Vanderbilt: We are hearing that Temple head coach Al Golden is interested in the job. From what we understand, Vanderbilt will wait until Sunday to contact any candidate that is coaching this weekend."

"Mississippi State: Three minutes ago, Dan Mullen stated on Mississippi radio that he has not been contacted by any other schools."

Go Gophers!!

I don't know if I buy it or not, but it's pretty standard practice for the spurned to say "I didn't want the job" these days.

It doesn't mean the coach said no. This sort of leak this late in the process often means that the hiring university passed on these coaches, but the leak is a soft landing that allows a coach to save face. It's far more common than you realize.

Strange that every single candidate would inform Minnesota at the same time or near the same time they were not interested.

Collusion anyone? haha, I don't believe this report, like most things I read about the search.

Right, this is the worst part of the process. All of the "not interesteds" come out and we think we're effed and no one wants to come here. In reality, it's just a face-saving measure that happens all the time in this process.

At least I hope that's the case here. I suppose it's possible no one is interested and Mike Grant is driving to Bierman as I type.

Well, at least we have Floyd.

This isn't a "leak". Anybody can send a note to FootballScoop.com. This could be an agent, it could be a coach, it could be you or I. What gives footballscoop some credibility is that it is largely unknown outside of the coaching industry, but pretty much every coach/agent knows about it. That said, this could have come from anybody.

Time will tell on this, if Colorado, Vanderbilt, etc.. announce their hiring before Minnestoa then there is probably some truth to it.

Al Golden, come on down!

This job is much better than Vanderbilt. If you're truly interested in that job, come here instead and lead us back to the promised land.

I can see Leach at Miami or Vandy.

Yes, it would seem that we have our man identified and sealed up if this report is true... as no way they would all inform same media source at same time. Next few hours / days will be interesting.

Thats tough though... Because who would it be if not one of these guys? If Maturi is to hire someone and it is not one of those guys hats off to him for keeping a lid on their true intentions. We are hearing Trestman is no longer a candidate.

Here are a couple names of guys who have not been mentioned in a while.

1.) Don Tredwell out of Michigan State
2.) Carl Pelini out of Nebraska.
3.) Kirby Smart out of Alabama
4.) Jeff Jagodzinski out of the UFL

of all those guys Don Tredwell would be the most likely in my opinion.

Your all have missed the clues I have given U

10% of what your reading on this board is actually true. You all have thought of the right state just not the right name. Look back through my posts the answers are there!

IMO, Kirby Smart would be the best hire on that list. Maybe one of the best hires they could make. I am a big fan of his.

Houston Nutt is the only one I can think of that fits this bill with all the talk of Mullen.

LOL - all that worry for nothing.

It would appear we have a head coach IMO.
