 Is there any on this board? Assuming ESPN is correct, how do we match up with the Sooners?

Answer -- We don't. This would be an even bigger mismatch than the Gophers
vs. Kansas bowl game last year. Although OU lost their top QB Bradford, they possess
far too many offensive weapons and although our defense could slow them down a bit,
our offense needs a lot more than 15 extra practices to be able to move the ball
on their defense. Final Score -- OU: 31 Gophers: 6.
I don't know if you want to hear that, though.

Nobody except die-hard Gophers and Sooners fans would want to watch that game.
Our best bet is probably playing a MAC team in the Pizza Bowl.

I'd rather play the Sooners no matter. There's nothing to be gained by playing in Detroit.

Agreed, gophmeister. Although it might be kind of fun going in
knowing we had a decent chance to win, I think it would be pretty tough
to brag up a big win in Detroit!

We could win.

7-6 is better than 6-7, but I know what you mean.

The Sooners scare me. I just don't see how we could possibly score against them?

I would be surprised if a 6-6 oklahoma (osu would go to the bcs) would drop to the 7th pick from the big 12 or a 7-5 ou dropped to the 6th pick.

Gopherjay,
I'd love to talk about the bowl matchup. At this time we don't know which bowl or which opponent and it is still 5-6 weeks away, so I don't want to squander too much time or mental energy on it.

I would much rather play Oklahoma or Mizzou in the Insight Bowl than Central Michigan, Temple or Ohio in the Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl. There is not much to be gained by playing a team that most Big Ten teams would schedule as a nonconference patsy.

My biggest question about Oklahoma is if Bradford will be ready to play by then?

Tha's all for now as i have to pace myself for the next 30-40 days of bowl speculation.

way to be positive guys, and we wonder why we have the *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#tiest fans in college football

Its called 'realism' Gophers15. Just because some agree that the Gophs don't match up well with Oklahoma doesn't mean we don't each and every one of us want them to win.

And who says we have the *&^&^%*&^%-iest fans in college football? That's a new one I hadn't heard. Believe me, there are programs with far less passionate and dedicated fans.

Bradford is officially mothballed and waiting for the draft. He will not play. Gophers aren't in their league anyways, but I'm really glad Bradford won't be playing. That would have the potential to be legendarily ugly.

Have some *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#ing support for the gophers

Gophers15 I look at things as objectively as I can. I do not allow my desires to govern what I believe to be true. As much as I would like to believe the Gophers are going to march into Tempe and put a walloping onto Oklahoma no one who has watched both teams this year and is being honest with themselves could come to that conclusion. With all the Sooners struggles they are a much more talented team with far better coaching who by all accounts should put a hurting on an offensively anemic football team with a defense that can't get off the field.

I don't think failing to be dishonest means I am not being supportive. My opinion is nothing for you to get angry about.

constructive criticism not just saying we don't stand a chance and all this BS. Upsets happen, most people here have a loosing mentality and then when the gophers loose they get pissed and have no right to be. Be positive and support the team. Yeah its been a bad season but at least its over. Look into the future we have a lot of young players who have the potential to be good. Recruits come on this board and read it. Do you really think they want to come here with fans saying we stand no chance and our team is horrible?

I doubt my posts or anyone elses are going to influence a recruit, especially since criticism is the norm for virtually every college football board.

EVERY team's boards all have this same stuff on it. We're not unique by any stretch of the imagination.

How I see the Big 12 bowl bids playing out:

Texas in the National Championship

OK State gets an at large BCS bid (assuming they beat OK next weekend)

Nebraska in the Cotton Bowl

Texas Tech in the Holiday Bowl

Mizzou in the Alamo Bowl

Oklahoma in the Sun Bowl

Texas A+M in the Insight Bowl

Iowa State in the Independence Bowl

Those are my guesses but I am betting that the Sun Bowl would take OK over A+M or ISU due to fan base etc. I would expect that A+M would be a more desirable option than ISU. This is of course pending the last weekend of the Big 12 season, but I feel confident the OK State and Texas will get the job done in their rivalry games.

I really hope this scenario pans out so that we don't have to see OK vs the Gophers cuz that d-line for the Sooners is sporting some serious NFL talent, and that matchup would be brutal to watch.

You don't read this board much if you are ripping on the most neutral guy on this site. No one wrote anything worth using so many *&*^%$#@'s. Look at some of the other threads and have at it.

Why does a loss to Oklahoma scare anyone? It's a football game. There's no disgrace in losing honestly to a better team (if they can prove that claim), but there's also no honor in winning against an opponent nearly handpicked for that purpose. Seems to me true competitors seek the stiffest challenge available and then work toward a successful result. You take what's given, go with what you got and make as much out of it as possible.

The only thing that bothers me about the matchup is something that has been happening for a couple of years now. It seems like the bowl matchups have been horrible ones for the Big 10. The Gophers really don't have much of a chance against the Sooners, and afterwards everyone in the media will be referencing the game as more proof of the decline of the Big 10. Oklahoma SHOULD destroy Minnesota at this point in their respective programs. If the Gopher's win, it will be best victory in at least 15 years.

Trudat!

In addition, those Mich State/Mich boards never ever take a break. It is constant bantering nastiness. the MN/WI back and forth doesn't even compare.

C'mon now. Beating a 6-6/7-5 Oklahoma team is better than winning in Columbus for the first time in 50 years, or beating #2 Penn St for our first-ever win over them? Let's not get crazy.
