I had the same thought last night watching Jabba the Weis's swansong. Especially since it was Clausen's last game wearing a gold helmet, too. I was wondering if Floyd would consider transferring. Probably not. He figures to gut it out one more year in S. Bend, and then be a probable first round NFL pick. As for him regretting over not picking the Gophers, I doubt it. If he had gone to Minnesota, he could have looked forward to:

1.Having his games televised on alternate channels of the BTN at 11AM. Occasionally on ESPN360 instead of NBC and/or prime-time

2.Having a QB throw to him who would either hang him out to dry to get killed, or throw it 10' over his head (or at his ankles).

I guess that rather than throwing it 12 times a game to Decker Weber would have gone 6 each to Floyd and Decker.

I doubt very much Floyd regrets his decision not to come here. Now, as for not choosing tOSU or USC (assuming both those schools recruited him), that might be a different story.

Tate is probably heading to the League as well. Floyd might have to throw the ball to himself. Supposedly those three were pretty tight. The three of them spent a couple weeks at Clausen's house in Southern California over the Summer bonding. Might get a little lonely in that northern Indiana hot spot this summer.

I doubt he has any regrets over his decision. He got to play with a top notch QB, and will get to play with another the next two (maybe 1) years, and showcase his abilities. He hasn't had nearly the on-field success he would hope for, but he will probably put part of that on himself. Furthermore, his "finalists" seemed to be tOSU, Minnesota, Notre Dame and Wisconsin. Who has an offense that fit his game better than Notre Dame?

As much as it might stink to say, the only other option that might look real appealing to him would be Wisconsin. That Badger offense would look pretty scary with Michael Floyd.

Anyone else see Clausen talking smack at Harbaugh after a big completion last night? I don't think I've ever seen a haughtier team on the field. Tate is extremely good, but he just struts around out there like he's the greatest player ever.

Floyd is a stud. Whenever one of our MN kids leaves for another school (particularly Notre Dame, Wisconsin, or Iowa), I selfishly hope they do not live up to expectations, but it looks like he definitely will. He looks like he has put on about 20 lbs of muscle since going to Notre Dame, and already looks like an NFL receiver at 20 yrs old. He put up some pretty solid numbers this year despite missing almost half the season.

Hopefully someday soon we will be able to keep guys like this at home to play for the U.

If they can back it up, who gives a crap? Plus Harbaugh talks more *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# than just about anyone, so it's hard to knock guys for talking back to him.

And yes, OP, I'm sure Floyd is really regretting getting to play on national TV every game and catch passes from a future first rounder instead of Adam Weber.

Adam Weber didn't seem to have a problem getting the ball to Decker. Decker led the country in receiving when he was healthy.

You are aware that he considered schools other than Notre Dame and Minnesota, are you not? Ohio State, Florida, your beloved Hawkeyes, etc.

I guess I'm just from a different era. Can't stand all the posing and yapping that goes on these days. And just to make sure I'm not a homer on this, Royston and Simmons are two of the worst I've seen this season.

As for Iowa (of which you are a fan), I've always been impressed by the fact that they don't talk trash out on the field.

why in the world would Floyd regret his decision to go to Notre Dame??? the kid is a household name in college football already because he was seen every week on national TV dominating like he is still in high school. He will not transfer and will play one more year in SB before being a 1st rounder the next draft.

Lest we forget, a Notre Dame education and the post-graduation network it provides is extremely impressive and will serve Floyd well after his expected NFL career is over. I'm sure Floyd is happy with his decision. Great kid getting a great education at a great school.

Yeah, but you wouldn't be all pissy about his decision if he hadn't been from Minnesota and considered the Gophers. Anyway I would still rather play with Clausen than the QBs of any of those teams. And he never seriously considered Iowa.

Floyd has played in an offense that has allowed him to be incredibly productive and is probably going to make himself a ton of money in the NFL very soon. There's really not a whole lot to regret.

Add to the fact that Floyd is on national TV each week and his name is mentioned virtually every Saturday on ESPN in a highlight of the previous game. Compare that to Eric Decker that was equally impressive when he was healthy and he got little national press on the national broadcasts such as ESPN. Seeing the lack of exposure Decker has received I doubt has made him regret his choice.

Which all still would have happened had he attended an Ohio State or Florida.

Floyd was going nowhere BUT Notre Dame

It has been pretty well known since he was a senior that his Mom was only interested in him going to a BCS Catholic school, in the midwest. That sort of limited his choices.

If his highest priority was to win a National Championship then Florida might have been a better choice, otherwise what would be a better fit.

Weis is officially out now, I'm hearing. As far as Floyd regretting his decision, I doubt it much. I don't think he gets the numbers he got at ND at a USC or OSU.
