A heated Florida basketball game took a frightening turn on Monday night, when a Desoto County (Fla.) High player was ejected after receiving a technical foul, then snapped and went after the referee, who handed out the technical foul, as if he was auditioning to become a WWE wrestler.

If I was his coach I might have slammed his head into the lockers a few times when we reached the hallway.
 

Did you hear about that scary school board shooting down in Florida? Luckily nobody was hurt. What is going on down in the gator state recently?
 




Oh .. and the shot the guy takes doesn't hit anyone even though the guy grabs his chest and goes down behind the podium.
 


Luckily he was just as good of a shot as Harry Dunne in Dumb & Dumber.

Indeed.

I know we're talking about a young person who's in a high adrenaline situation but wow, that is really over the top.
 

From the clip it looked like a physical game. But I think the ref was going to call a double foul before that last shove. Most of the time this stuff doesn't just happen without warning. A lot of the times it's the coach not taking the player out for a bit to talk and let him cool down. With that said these kids now are so worried about getting their respect, that they have none for other people.
 



Did the kid have any offers from any schools? I would think they would pull their offer after this.
 

I'm sure shortly we'll hear what a "good kid" he is, and/or that he's misunderstood. What a melon head.
 

Even in the most extreme circumstance, I could barely understand him pushing the referee. To have 3 seconds to realize how stupid it was, and THEN go and body slam the ref, really defies all explanation. I can't even imagine deciding to go Hulk Hogan on a referee.

There's such an entitlement mentality today among a lot of kids and it's not restricted to those who are actually from challenging backgrounds. I do a lot of umpiring of baseball and mostly in fairly affluent suburbs. It will not surprise me in the least when one of those kids snaps and goes after an umpire.
