Who’s the boss?

Ed Warinner is the Gophers offensive line coach and run-game coordinator. He came to Minnesota after sharing offensive coordinator duties at Ohio State.

Here’s how Fleck explained the Gophers’ arrangement: “Coach Ciarrocca calls all the plays. [Tight ends coach] Brian Callahan and Coach Warinner are on a separate headset, so they’ll talk back and forth. When Coach Ciarrocca wants a run, he’ll get the suggestions from them and then call from there. But Coach Ciarrocca’s in charge of everything.”

Go Gophers!!

Warinner was fired from Ohio State because they(Ohio State) didn't have a viable(Urban Meyer words) passing attack. Running game was ok but couldn't pass effective. So it would seem that this arrangement makes sense. If our running game looks like Ohio State from past years, I'm all in.

He wasn't fired from OSU - although it's likely he would've been pushed out to make room for Kevin Wilson because he couldn't have gone back to his old OL position. Buckeye fans loved him as an OL and run-game coach, but OC was not his thing (especially compared to a guru like Wilson).
