Fleck on incoming freshman running back Ky Thomas, whose 7,703 rushing yards rank No. 2 all-time in Kansas prep football history: “A young man who was Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Kansas and he just joined us. He has a long way to go and a lot of room for improvement but he gives us the ability to get some depth.” Thomas ran for 3,009 yards as senior at Topeka High School.

It has been almost 20 years since "Sid" was writing insight in his articles or cutting edge materials. What Sid writes now is information for the sports novice. It is insightful for those who don't follow that sport. For what they are, I still enjoy them but know he is not trying to be what he once was. I remember when he was the first place I would turn 20-30 years ago to find who we were recruiting and other key pieces of info. I think in the internet age it makes sense to simple information the masses with the paper and not attemp to be "cutting edge."
