Five reasons for Gophers' football turnaround

Three big ones they didn't really mention directly:

>>. Red Zone efficiency. The Gophers have been fantastic, usually getting TDs but at least FG, with Leidners red zone fumble being the only exception all season.

>> Discipline. 4.10 turnovers per game.

>> Coffee is for Closers. Particularly during the win streak, the. Gophers have been fantastic this year at closing out games, specifically, long sustained 4th quarter drives to kill the clock and seal the game. Most recently, against PSU, I think they got the ball, up 10, with a little over 6 minutes left. PSU never got the ball again. THAT has been a huge factor during the streak.

I'm sure there are several others but those are the ones that stick out to me

I know this is more of an intangible - but I would put "Confidence" as the #1 reason for the turn-around.

It may be a cliche, but when players buy into the system, that is when teams show improvement. This group of players believes in the coaching staff, and maybe more importantly, I think they're starting to believe in each other.

You can cite statistics all day, but in the end, I feel the biggest change in the program under Kill is the attitude. This team believes it's going to win - and they have been winnning, which reinforces that belief.

Cue Frank Sinatra singing "High Hopes."
