Does anybody out there know where a white jersey can be found? I've looked all over the web and have only found a Wheelwright jersey that's obviously the old style.

I was in Gold Country last week and inquired as well....I was told that they have no idea if there ever will be a white away jersey available....to their knowledge there probably wont be one....this disappoints me....I actually like the white jersey better.

I also spoke with someone from Gold Country and they were quick to point out that it is not their decision. Nike decides what to make based on forecasted demand. I'm sure that Minnesota fans are not buying nearly as many jerseys as the other Nike schools, so we are getting the sparse selections. I think success on the field and/or the addition of a nationally known superstar (i.e. Barber/Maroney) would help with this situation.

Jerseys

This is kind of the chicken and the egg situation. I really wanted an authentic looking jersey, but all you can really find is the crappy screen-print ones, so I don't buy it, so their forecasted sales look small, so they don't bother making anything good, so I continue to not buy.

This topic has been on my mind for a while. I think the U hasn't done that great of a job of making sports apparel available to Gopher fans. Now this could be blamed on Nike, so maybe the U has no say in the matter. But maybe their contract with Nike can be negotiated better for merchandise.

The point is, if you go to the bookstore or gold country, there is not that great of a selection of Gopher jerseys. For example, They still sell the old football jerseys, the basketball jerseys look nothing like what the Basketball team wears. And there are at least 5 different hockey jerseys. One of which is black, which the gophers don't wear. Why can't we have authentic, or at least extremely accurate replica, jerseys? Other schools have no problem with this. Go to madison and walk into a pro shop. You can buy Jerseys that look identical to what the teams wear. Home or Away. Why can't the U have this? I know Wisconsin has a deal with addidas, and I know that they don't change their uniform designs ever, but seriously? I'm pretty sure if you could buy authentic jerseys, you would probably see more people show up to the game wearing the right colors as opposed to just walking off the street.

That and the football team needs a GOLD jersey with the new design.

I would settle for a decent looking T-shirt or Sweat Shirt

To wear to games. I'm to old to wear Jersey's anymore but all my models are from the Barber, Maroney, and Corey Sauter and Tutu Atwell versions. Probably takes a lot more demand from customers to get people to make a decent Jersey. I would have to think the old models are still around because nobody really buy's these that much.

New Jersey's

I'd love to purchase a new model "white" jersey too but I settled for the new home nike replica of Decker - 7. I'm glad I bought it. fyi... Sports Authority had them at 50% off last week...

You sir, are on the the path to dressing well for gameday. Here's a simple, general rule of thumb: If you are older than the players you are going to watch play, you should not wear a jersey.

They have the replica Decker jersey on Eastbay.com

I also found this T shirt which I like that says: The "U" in gold on the front:

I think one of the problems with Minnesota apparel is the color scheme of Maroon and Gold. It doesn't go with a lot and, other than hard core fans, nobody is going to go in to Champs or Foot Locker and pick out the Gopher Jersey. USC has a similar color scheme and I don't see a lot of random people wearing their jerseys either. Now UNC with the light blue and white or Georgetown with the dark blue and grey are going to sell a lot more merchandise to people who are not fans of their teams.

I disagree with that.....who says you need to be as young or younger than the players to wear a jersey....as long as you are wearing it to a game I think it's great and shows support for your team.....I'm 46 and own a few gopher jerseys from past years and still wear them with pride to the games.....I also see many older people who wear them..... I say go for it !

Maybe I have bad fashion sense - but I'll be wearing my MINNESOTA football jersey to games when I'm 90 - if I make it that long. Have you ever traveled on a road game?

Sure, I've travelled to plenty of road games. Not to toot my own horn, but I think I'm doing pretty well, as far as game travel is concerned. I've been to conference road games at all the Big Ten schools, save for Michigan State and Indiana. I've gone to the Sun Bowl twice, the micronpc.com bowl, and Music City Bowl twice. For nonconference games I've gone to Toledo and Ohio U. This is just for football. This fall I'm making return trips to Iowa and Penn State. I've been to hockey games at all the WCHA schools except for Michigan Tech, and was in the crowd to witness to both recent National Championships. What, might I ask, does this have to do with wearing (or not wearing) a jersey?

To each their own. I'd rather wear a Bud Light t-shirt than a replica of Steve the Deliveryman's work shirt, but that's just my preference. My all-time favorite is when you see the 350-lb guys in the Reggie Bush or Barry Sanders replicas.

Glad to hear it! I'm 44 and wear a variety of football jerseys regularly.

Now that the NCAA has discarded the white away jersey rule for 2010, any chance they will also allow uniforms that are similarlr to hockey i.e. a big block M on the front? I like the PSU and old school unis the U currently sports, but I could see the NCAA changing to allow more styles.

Sounds like a personal decision not to wear a jersey and I believe the opposite should be said. If I was going to school with a guy that played football the last thing I want to do is worship the kid I went to school with.
And if you have been to all the schools like you say you have you will notice that well over 50% of fans are wearing jerseys. None are in the student sections. So it is your opinion that you shouldn't wear one but you are in the minority on that call.
