Before the season Road to Selection Sunday established a Power 6 peer group for the Gophers, teams expected to finish within their Power 6 conferences about where the Gophers were expected to finish in theirs (the B1G). I believe the general feeling was the Gophers would finish anywhere from 9th to 11th. That peer group was Georgia Tech (ACC), Creighton (Big East), Nebraska (B1G), Kansas State (Big XII), Washington (Pac 12), and Alabama (SEC).

The final results?

Gophers Power 6 Peer Group (final regular-season RPI noted)
#69 Georgia Tech (21-15, 8-10 & tied for 11th in ACC, 3-8 vs. RPI top 50, NIT quarterfinals, fired Brian Gregory)
#73 Alabama (18-15, 8-10 & 10th in SEC, 3-6 vs. RPI top 50, NIT 1st round)
#84 Washington (19-15, 8-10 & tied for 6th in Pac 12, 2-11 vs. RPI top 50, NIT 2nd round)
#90 Kansas State (17-16, 5-13 & 8th in Big XII, 2-15 vs. RPI top 50)
#100 Creighton (20-15, 9-9 & 6th in Big East, 2-9 vs. RPI top 50, NIT quarterfinals)
#165 Nebraska (16-18, 6-12 & 11th in B1G, 2-11 vs. RPI top 50)
#257 GOPHERS (8-23, 2-16 & 13th in B1G, 1-8 vs. RPI top 50)

May have a chance to match up with the Tide in Vegas next year. Be nice to get them and BYU for our two games no disrespect to Valpo, they're a solid program as well

Hoping Gophers open with BYU. Safest bet among the other three to have a good season.

Is this Vegas thing confirmed, yet? Could be an intriguing Thanksgiving week trip and be able to get back for TG family gathering.

The fact we've heard nothing from Pitino or the media leads me to believe it's not a done deal. Perhaps the contract is signed, but we're trying to negotiate a way out of it? That happens sometimes with these exempt tournaments.
