Final ESPN Bowl Projections (Minnesota: Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit)

I hate that a 5 win team can make a bowl...even if it's out Gophers.

But u don't hate that a 6 win team can make a bowl? 6 win teams that might lose by 20 to some 5 win teams? There's 40 Bowl games! 80 out of 125 teams make bowls. U should get over it, it's not a big deal.

Pitt would be a fun opponent.

Doesn't get any better than Detroit in late December. How many will make the trip, 2-300?

Oh there will be less than 200 gopher fans at the game but people will watch on tv.

+1. People need to get over this. Playing in a bowl game is no longer a reward for the bottom 60 or so qualifiers. It's just an extra game with a month of practice.

Yes, I do. I question 7 win teams but go with it since they at least have a winning record.

Given your logic, 4 win teams should be allowed too because some might beat 5 win teams by 20.

I guess what we really need is 63 bowl games. I mean all the seniors played hard, everyone can use the practices, blah, blah, blah.

No , it's a joke.

This I have no issue.

On another matter, I think Les is being generous with his range.

Without getting into the whole season is too long, more injuries, kids have class, why not just extend the season by a game?

I don't think this team would beat any likely bowl opponent by 20.

If it's against the ACC, count me in.

Really hoping it's against an ACC team. I've seen some projections of Minnesota-Western Michigan in the Quick Lanes Bowl, which wow, might have total viewership in the low six figures range.

I saw one Bowl projection that has Minnesota vs San Jose State in Quick Lane Bowl.

battle of the 5 wins....

The MAC has an agreement with the Quick Lane Bowl to provide a back-up team in the event either the Big Ten or ACC does not have enough eligible teams, which will be the case unless, somehow, the ACC places a team in Detroit rather than Shreveport. But order of selection gives preference to the Independence Bowl, and they might hit the jackpot by hosting Virginia Tech in Frank Beamer's farewell.

Virginia Tech vs. Tulsa in the Independence Bowl, so it's definitely a MAC opponent in Detroit.

B10 teams so far:

Cotton No. 2 Alabama No. 3 Michigan State December 31 Arlington, TX
Fiesta No. 8 Notre Dame No. 7 Ohio State January 1 Glendale, AZ
Rose No. 5 Iowa No. 6 Stanford January 1 Pasadena, CA
Citrus Michigan Florida January 1 Orlando
Outback Northwestern Tennessee January 1 Tampa

If the Gophers play a MAC team they will get KILLED!

When it comes to Bowl Season, all I want to do is beat the SEC. These matchups give me significant hope.

Literally? That would be an enormous tragedy.

They will get beat if they play Central Michigan, who people are projecting. They hanged with Michigan State for a long time and seem to have a pretty good defense, based on the scores they've won.

Minnesota with a vanilla playbook put 35 on Iowa, when MSU couldn't put 17 on them.

MSU, like Iowa, are overachievers.

Didn't Purdue and Rutgers hang with Michigan State (and not lose by 20 like Central Michigan did)?
