Kiffin, now 45 and still looking like a kid, is 24 years younger than his former boss, Nick Saban. Still, with what seems like a career ahead of him, he's back in the SEC now 11 years removed from that one-and-done season at Tennessee and four years after departing Alabama before the College Football Playoff National Championship.

He's also the owner of three national championship rings. That's your answer if you're still asking how Kiffin -- now at his third SEC program and leading his fifth team (including the NFL's Raiders) -- keeps gets getting chances.

Conflict and controversy may suit him, but Ole Miss won't be boring. While his mouth runs, for the most part, his offenses thrive. Ask USC's career passing leader (Matt Barkley) or the SEC Offensive Player of the Year (Jalen Hurts, as a true freshman). Ask Ole Miss' leading receivers; Moore should become a breakout star in 2020.

"To me, there's college football, then there's the SEC plus a few teams -- Clemson and Ohio State," Kiffin said. "It's not like I took this job to go to the Power Five. It was because it was in the SEC, a place that had won."

Go Gophers!!

Lane Kill Kiffin. Moves around a lot, but I wish I could see some of the things he has. Pro coach so early, work with Saban, the scenery at Oxford (from another thread).............

Kiffin is hard to cheer for with him hiring Durkin and others...

Make sure to talk up how good Auburn is! Yeah, that's a power program right there! :sneaky:

Kiffin the younger has always been a piece of crap and will continue to be so.

Ole Miss simply wants to win football games and they're betting he can do it. Everything else is secondary. After all, this is the SEC we're talking about.

It will be interesting. I'll be watching. He has a very good base of talent to immediately make Ole Miss respectable. With his offense prowess, they might surprise and lite up some good teams.

LSU, Bama, and Auburn just seem too entrenched. Barrier to entry is too great. Not to mention the other three programs just in that division have as much or more resources as Miss. Tough sledding

Yeah this right here. I'll be watching and they'll probably be relevant. And don't forget you've got Mike Leach over at Mississippi State.

I know I'll get some backlash here, but the SEC West is now the most captivating division in College Football. Kiffin is like the car crash you can't look away from, but I truly root for Leach. He's this Air Raid enigma that I can't get enough of. Then you've got all the other characters in the division - Saban and Co, Orgeron, Malzahn and Jimbo Fisher (only 6 years removed from winning his own National Title). The only thing missing is something whacky at Arkansas - whether it's Houston Nutt or Burt Bielema

If the Gophers don't have a game in the afternoon slot, I'm guessing I'll be tuned to CBS for the SEC game of the week

The SEC West has rendered Arkansas as one of the least relevant college football teams in the nation.

They had that one or two year stretch with the wild hog, when they lost in the SEC champ game to the Tebow Gators. But I don't think they've done anything outside of that, since leaving the Southwest Conf.

EDIT: ok so they've had a bit more success than I thought, but not that much https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Arkansas_Razorbacks_football_seasons

They've had some success over the last 20 years.

For me, they were must-see TV from 2002-2007. This was prime-time Houston Nutt Era Razorbacks. They had one of my favorite players ever in QB Matt Jones then had the wild-hog era Darren McFadden, Peyton Hillis and Felix Jones all at the same time. Nutt's demise ultimately came at the hands of Gus Mahlzan. He was hired so they could recruit Mitch Mustain and all these other 4-5 star players out of Gus' High School. Everything just blew up after that. Half the people wanted Houston, half the people wanted Gus in charge.

And I don't care that Matt Jones was a bust and professional failure, he was electrifying in college. The kid beat a ranked Auburn team, at Auburn. He beat No. 6 Texas, at Texas. He had a big win against a ranked LSU team. He played in like two 6-Overtime games and won a 7 overtime game at Kentucky. I have clearly wasted a lot of good mental memory space on Matt Jones
