Will update this in early June after the NBA underclassmen decisions provide a much clearer picture (i.e. the likes of Amir Coffey of MINN and Grant Williams & Jordan Bone of TENN are especially significant). Then the Field of 68 projection will take its summer hiatus until after practice starts in October.
A few tidbits:
(1) For the 2019-20 season, the American replaces the Pac 12 as one of my Power 6 conferences. I consider conferences Power 6 by simple math. ... the 6 conferences that produced the most NCAA bids the previous season.
(2) Teams that have historically been the best in their conference since the 1999-2000 season (read: most NCAA bids and/or wins) automatically were put into the field as an automatic qualifier, hence, I'm relying some on (recent) history. That produces an eye-raiser or two. Milwaukee as the automatic qualifier from the Horizon League would be the best example.
(3) I feel very comfortable saying the B1G again will receive as many or more NCAA bids than any conference. Depth might even be better than it was last season. The SEC, perhaps, could challenge the B1G in that regard, but just not seeing the ACC getting its normal allotment of bids next season. After the ACC's first four, I had trouble coming up with 5th and 6th bids. I see a pretty weak bottom half of the ACC, not the case in the B1G, SEC, and Big XII.
An * denotes the automatic qualifier from a multiple-bid conference.
