EDEN PRAIRIE, MN – As we roll toward February, there wasn’t a huge shake-up in this week’s Field of 68 projection. Yes, there was the usual movement among automatic qualifiers (9 newbies), but we only have 3 new at-larges, Arkansas (SEC), Oregon (Pac 12), and Wyoming (Mountain West). Most notable among this week’s at-large absentees is North Carolina, which suffered a pair of 20+ point road losses.

Automatic qualifiers are the team with the best conference record or, in the event of a tie, the best NET ranking. NET rankings are noted in parentheses. I’m rolling out a new format this week. I think this one reads better by separating the automatic bids & the at-larges.

Watched part of the North Carolina game, they didn't look very impressive to me, haphazard defense and not a lot of offense.

You had the Gophers first 4 out last week and now they're not in the first 12 out? Is that just because of the drop in Net ranking?

Good question.

Previous week's ranking/placement doesn't necessarily mean a team will be "slotted" accordingly the next week. Factors in all results from the previous week, which for the Gophers was a loss to Iowa and a win over Rutgers.

Ah. I assumed last week was done after the loss to Iowa. Makes sense.

Biggest bummer is that while the win against Rutgers was super impressive considering the amount of guys we had out.

From a metrics stand point it wasnt a good win at all

True, but these guys needed a win bad. A momentum win to go and squash OSU Thursday
