EDEN PRAIRIE, MN – Our final 2021 weekly Field of 68 projection (a day earlier than usual) brings a changing of the guard on the conference leaderboard. With the addition of TCU to the NCAA Tournament field, the Big XII now leads the way with 8 bids.
The Big Ten had a bracket-leading 9 teams last week, but Indiana, Iowa, and Michigan (for now) have dropped out. The Big East and SEC check in with 7 bids apiece, followed by the ACC and WCC with 4 each. The most surprising of the 11 new teams entering the field is William & Mary. The Tribe, #340 (of 358) in the NET rankings, take over the Colonial automatic qualifier spot with their 2-0 conference record.
Automatic qualifiers (team with best conference record and/or best NET ranking) from multiple-bid conferences are noted in bold. Next week I come to you from sunny Venice, FL. See you Jan. 9!
