1. Man-o-man did Gillum fall down the depth chart unless I missed an injury or something. Pretty sure he didn't see the field yesterday.
2. I also noticed that Williams seemed to play more snaps than Maye...didn't see that coming.
3. Was suprised and confused a bit of having Edwards returning kicks...which is easy to say now, but he has been a LB for a while now
4. I think that McDonald is going to be really really good (minus the drop)...he just moves and runs like a legit B10 reciever IMO
5. Our two minute drill at the end of the first half was B-R-U-T-A-L
6. Kirkwood is a beast. I don't know if he has the talent of a dominant college back or if he has NFL type ability, but I would not like to tackle him. I also appreciate how hard he runs, he just fights for every inch every time.
7. Our DBacks seem to have a hard time turning to look for the ball.
8. I hate the fade call to end the game. Just my personal feeling...maybe on first or second down I could see it, but on the last play of the game I would prefer to give the QB different options to see if someone breaks open.
9. I think that Shortell is a good Big 10 backup, but I am not sold on him as a starter. With that being said...he is a true sophomore so he still has time to improve...but in games that he has gone in being the starter I have not been overwhelmed.
10. The worst part for me over the last two weeks is that I had the feeling that the Gophers had a great chance to really get a large number of fans excited...and after not showing up in the first half against Iowa and then really just letting yesterday slip throught their hands (literally) a large number of fans have decided "same old Gophers" and that sucks.
11. I don't understand why so many issues with the snap...that was brutal and borderline comical.
12. Anybody see/hear if Kill had a case when he lost it for that illegal substitution penalty?
13. I know that Gray is not extremely accurate, but I really wish that we would give him a chance to throw the ball a bit more with him in the game.
14. I personally hope that we give Kill a minimum of 5 years to turn this thing around...I know coaches don't get that long of a leash in college football these days....but I still think that he is a very good coach and a good face of the team....and eventually you have to trust that you have hired the right guy and let him implement his system and recruit players that fit his system for an extended period of time. I love that he has his system and is dedicated to it, and knows it in and out and will recruit players that fit it...now we just need to give him time to get those players...which trust me I hate the patience preaching more than anything....but if we bring in a new coach then we would start over having to recruit for his system and it would start all over. I know five years is a long time, but we have been bad for a long time and we have to dig out of that hole.
Just my thoughts...man do I hope that we crush Bielema and the Badgers next week.
