ST. THOMAS (20-7 overall, 9-3 Summit League, 11-13 ATS)
NET: Tommies drop 5 spots to #116
Torvik (T-Rank): Tommies drop 2 spots to #126
Thursday Summit League Results/Highlights
@ #257 Omaha 98, #116 St. Thomas 94 -- Little-used forward Valentino Simon (21 points, 10 rebounds) came out of nowhere to lead the Mavericks (13-14, 6-6 Summit) to the upset over the Tommies. Valentino had totaled just 34 minutes in the Mavericks' previous six games, scoring only four points. Ja'Sean Glover and Grant Stubblefield led the Mavericks with 22 points apiece.
Isaiah Johnson-Arigu came off the bench to lead the Tommies (17-7, 9-3 Summit) with 19 points and five rebounds. Nolan Minessale added 17 points, five rebounds, nine assists, and three steals, but also had four of the Tommies' 12 turnovers. The difference was the free-throw line. Omaha was 25-of-28 from the charity stripe (89.3%), while St. Thomas was 6-of-14 (42.9%).
UST is at its best when three-point sniper Carter Bjerke is getting shots. He took two vs. Omaha. The most important thing for the Tommies moving forward is the health of starting PG Austin Herro, who's missed the last three games due to injury. He's such a key piece on both ends of the floor.
@ #231 Denver 79, #214 South Dakota State 61 -- Dynamic Pioneers PG Carson Johnson led the Summit League's most dangerous (and perhaps best?) team over the struggling Jackrabbits, losers of three straight. Johnson scored a game-high 23 points and added five assists for the Pioneers (13-14, 6-6 Summit), the league's hottest team with three straight wins. Jeremiah Burke added a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Damon Wilkinson led the Jackrabbits (11-15, 4-7 Summit) with 18 points and six rebounds.
@ #332 Oral Roberts 69, #354 Kansas City 60 -- Connor Dow scored 16 points to lead ORU (6-20, 1-10 Summit) to its first league victory. Ty Harper added 14 points and six rebounds. Karmello Branch led the Roos (4-21, 1-10 Summit) with 18 points.

Deep Thoughts, by Buzz Studley
College basketball NEEDS Miami-Ohio to finish undefeated in the regular season but then lose in the MAC Tournament. Then we'll find out what the Selection Committee is really made of. Would it really have the audacity to deny an at-large bid to a mid-major with a 32-1 or 33-1 record?
