Another one in the books. There were a lot of great moments to remember. What was your favorite memory from this year?

For me personally, the win against USC stands out a lot. The win against UCLA in the Rose Bowl was also amazing, and I'm partially biased towards that one because I attended. Beating the Badgers is always special. Even though we lost, the atmosphere at the PSU game was awesome, especially after the triple lateral touchdown right after the punt block.

Curious to hear your thoughts on what moment sticks out the most.

Koi's pick at the end of the USC game by a mile. Completely changed the trajectory of the season.
I agree. But given that USC fell off a cliff this season does that change the magnitude of that win? Would have been nice for them to stay ranked so that win looks a little better.

I feel as if we sent USC's season into a tailspin as opposed to them always having been fraudulent. Remember that they only lost to PSU by 3 right after we beat them, and that result might have changed depending on mentals/confidence/team unification coming out of the game against us. For the same reason I don't think they would have been as likely to choke vs Maryland, so i think that while they were not the #11 team in the country they probably would have been a 3 loss team if not for the loss to us. They definitely had the talent to reach that record. They played ND very close for most of the game Saturday as well.

Great question. I'll have to think about this for a while. Beating Mr. Because the card said so, and knocking them out of the playoff conversation in addition to reclaiming the Axe and evening up the series come to mind. Beating SC is always good.

I really want this to be true but I don't think it is lmao

Based on their record they definitely had the makings for a better season than they had. Beat LSU to start off the season and like I said before played two top-five teams very close. At their average, I think they definitely had the makings of a top 25 team. They just played below average in many of the games that they had to win.

Beating the badgers is always tough to top, but given that I was in the crowd for that USC game, which will always be a top sports memory for me, I will give that the nod.

Honorable mentions:

The PSU game was probably the most fun I've had attending a game that we lost.
Getting that Illinois monkey off our backs was a great feeling.
The Michigan loss was frustrating, but that second half almost felt like a turning point in the season.
In general watching a hometown star freshman live up to (or exceed) the hype was pretty awesome.

To be honest the second half of the Michigan game sent them into a little spin too.

I think teams from the big ten definitely came away respecting the gophers this year.
The one game that wasn’t close at the end our coordinators got out adjusted at half, it seems like they grew from that.

The O line wasn’t good enough and the d line wasn’t consistent enough to go unbeaten in all those close games.

Best moment of the season for me was the Maryland game because my whole family was able to go

By happenstance, I finally got around to watching the Michigan game last night once the Bills got the rout going against the 49ers. I missed the game due to a golf tournament and DVRd it. Until last night the only play I had seen was the onside kick/penalty.

Weird game. Lots of reasons, not just the Onside/Offsides kick call. Great rally though.

My favorite moment was following week, with the Koi Perich INT to seal the USC game. I didn't have to drive anywhere so I was pretty tuned up before, during and after the game.

Felt a little dehydrated the next morning. Totally worth it.

Would like to replay the first half of the Michigan game with the confidence we had the second half of the season and without the fumbles in our own red zone

Also a blocked punt led to a TD.

The margin of victory was actually:

Minnesota missed their 50+ FG in the 1st Half.
Michigan made their 50+ FG to open the 2nd half.

That converted FG was after a 7 min 36 drive. How many 13 play drives do you see eating up that much time resulting in a 53 yd FG?

I do understand the game would have been played differently based on the outcome of those 2 kicks.

Anyway, in hindsight the Gophers D corrected whatever shortcomings they had in the 2nd Half of the Hawkeye game and other than some short fields into the Michigan game. Then beyond.

The only thing that was truly depressing this season was the second half of the Iowa game. They literally ran counter and we couldn’t figure it out

2 other moments worthy of consideration:

The way Daniel Jackson contorted himself to haul in the Gophers last TD at the Big House was amazing. Probably would have been #1 if that led to a W.

The fake Tush Push that the Gophers sprung Marcus Major for a 40 yd gain on 3rd and 1 against the Badgers.

Yeah, that tops the list on the negative side.

The missed FG against the Tar Heels was brutal, but actually the glass half full side of me was thinking the defense (with a new coordinator) was going to be all right.

Hard to pick against winning the Axe in dominant fashion. But since it's no longer an uncommon occurrence.....and it was an away game.....I'm going to go with the USC win. Regardless of whether they fell off hard this year.....they were ranked #11 at the time and they are a helmet school. I remember back when we played the home and home with them in 2010/2011 and thinking that beating USC was a pipe dream for this program. Getting another shot at them.....at home......them being ranked......hard not see that as the highlight (along with getting the Axe back).

This was unbelievable. How does he not get drafted?

Watching the broadcast via DVR yesterday, I think the ref was so stunned Jackson made the catch he just instinctively called it incomplete. Seriously.

Glad replay was a no-brainer.

It's not so much about the final quality of the win as it is about the feeling at the time. The Gophers were 2-3 and facing an opponent with an illustrious history that we as fans probably didn't expect to beat. The Gophers played them evenly throughout the game, went ahead late, and stopped them on their final drive to tie the game. That game gave fans the confidence that this team might be pretty competitive going forward.

As always, watching them race across the field to grab the Axe!

Hard to beat getting the Ax back. But this year, my best moment was watching the Gophers in the Big House. My first time there and it was cool watching the Wolverine fans get nervous in the second half as we almost pulled out the win. Tailgating was great, as our group from MN was hosted by a bunch of retired Wolverine alums (most of them dentists). We ate great and drank top shelf liquor!

Hang that picture of Koi in the Louvre

I love that the gopher media team panned to badger fans streaming out of the stadium

Looking back, I think beating Illinois, who is a good team, is a bigger deal than beating Wisconsin.

If you get what I’m saying there.
