Of the potential scholarship players for 2010-11, I can think of a number that cannot or may not play.. if anyone has updates on Devoe or Al I'd be interested:

Devoe - injury; would be great to see him get to play in Canada -- hope he can go. Far more important though is that he's ready for the season.

Nolen - If he was not technically enrolled as a full-time student last year or it has not been established that he is eligible for competition this coming year, he would be out -- hope he can go.

I believe Chip, Maurice and Oto are all ineligible to compete. Hope my understanding is off on one of those kids, though.

Any others that may not play?

I could be wrong, but I thought Maurice was at summer school and should be eligible to play. I hope so anyway, as I realize its not the same part of Canada, but having Devoe and Walker play in their home country would be nice to see for them, the teams they are playing, and possible future recruits from Canada.

Chip and Oto can't play for sure.

Al and Devoe I am unsure about, hopefully Devoe's injury improves though.

Incoming freshmen should be eligible to go on this trip, right? Isn't that the reason they scheduled it? I thought the rule was changed to allow incoming freshmen to go on these trips.

They are allowed too, but need to have been at summer school, that is what I believe it is anyway. Oto hasn't been cleared yet so he wasn't here. Chip just signed so obviously wasn't here, and I thought Walker was at summer school but could be wrong.

Yes, I looked it up. You're correct. Incoming freshmen need to have completed three hours of summer school. I know Mo Walker was in summer school. We can only assume they were wise enough to get him three hours, right?

Was Mbakwe in summer school? Would he be able to play in Vancouver if he plays for the Gophers? It is going to be a great trip for the team. It would seem that he deserves to be there.

Yes, he can play.

Probably a stupid question... that I think may have been answered somewhere already... but are these games going to be online by chance?

-- The Gophers are expected to start practicing for their foreign tour on Aug. 22 at Williams Arena. They will leave for Canada on Aug. 31 or Sept. 1. There's a possibility that former Gophers player Spencer Tollackson will do audio commentary on each of the team's three exhibition games on Sept. 2, Sept. 3 and Sept. 5. The audio clips and video interviews of players would be available on Gophersports.com. That would be a great way to follow the team if they decide to do it.

I believe all 3 games are in Vancouver area in BC.

Such a beautiful, beautiful place. I would guess that if they are playing three games it would be UBC, Simon Fraser and the University of Victoria. Great that they will get to go out on to Vancouver island. What a treat for the players.
