Sometimes I think the NCAA takes way too many unfair potshots from the general public (overall, the organization does a lot more good than bad), but I agree with Parrish on this one. There's absolutely no deterrent in the Selby and Newton cases. Put the hammer down, and put it down hard. All these kids and their families have learned during all this is that they can be unethical cheaters looking for quick $$$$ and an easy way out & they can get away with it.
The Newton case bothers me the most. That kid is guilty as sin, just like his father. Do you really think a kid that was busted multiple times for cheating at Florida and then booted from school didn't know that his father was putting his marketable skills on the market? Are we really supposed to believe Cam Newton has any more character than his father? In this case, the evidence shows clearly the apple didn't fall far from the tree.
