When we are in the brink (this case being on the brink of being ranked with a bye week and a huge Penn state game. We lay an egg. 2019 Laid an absolute egg against Iowa, playing for Rose Bowl or maybe even a playoff….. then the losses to Illinois in 2021 right when we got ranked. Loss to Purdue in 22’ (Mo, play the damn game). Loss to Illinois last season. This year was fun but how come Peej can’t get his boys up for these games? Always so flat. Anywho. At least was a fun run this year. Prob finish on a 3 game losing streak

This team is as good as their record. Our best win is against a 3-3 Illinois. Losses to UNC and Rutgers are entirely unsurprising.

The ONLY teams who don't drop a game or two that they should have won ... are like the top 5 or so teams. Sometimes not even top 5.

Look at the teams at the end of the season ... it happens to everyone.

Any given Saturday / Sunday.

Doesn't make it suck less tho...

This is not laying an egg

This is losing a 50/50 game on the road

The gophers have a bottom 3 OL in the big ten.
Respectfully disagree with everything but your last statement. They laid a fucking egg. They were a touchdown favorite on the road against a team missing their best offensive and defensive player and with a QB completing 52% of his passes for the year. There is no other way to spin this other than PJ’s team once again shit the bed in a game they should have EASILY won. This was perhaps the easiest game among the last 5 they have played, and they weren’t ready.

They were not ready, is a for sure. Been going through this for so long, get to the cusp of respect and recognition and can’t keep it going.
As bad as the offensive line is, that was the worst showing of the decade. Rutgers has been a sieve for the last month, until today.

I felt like we were going to this this entire game. Felt different
Me too. Unfortunately, PJ’s teams have prepared us to expect a game like this at least once or twice a year. I felt bad about this game the second the Maryland game ended last week, and could see just how well setup we were to potentially accomplish something special, like a decent fucking bowl game. I instantly knew we’d likely blow it all against an inferior foe this week…and we did.

Back to Detroit we go.

Callahan hasn’t earned his pay this season with this line and I don’t understand it. Very good last year, a shit show this year.

Any chance for Pinstripe bowl if we end up 6-6? Anything but Detroit for the love of god. I don’t care about the field conditions I care about the city and enjoyment of a vacation

This game was the easiest predict of the entire year. I bet $1000 against us. How did anyone not see us losing this game ?

We will.lose the next 3 as well. Our OL is horrendous and our cornerbacks are so small and off the ball, we have no chance against Penn State and Wisconsin.

They stacked their line on the right side of ours because they idenfitifed it as a complete weakness. We seemed to go away from the quick hit passes that worked on the first drive of the second half, and we didn't try a screen more than once from what I could see. There were a number of times where we'd have trips and they'd be giving a significant cushion and I'm screaming for us to run a bubble screen but no dice.

Yup another year, another same result. Win just enough big games to reach the toilet bowls. Until the gophers find a quicker more dynamic up-tempo offense, I don't see it changing. Too tough to expect to win all the games that come to one possession games in my opinion.

I think only one with no chance is probably Detroit due to being there last year

Disagree.
I have been saying this game is 50/50 for weeks.

You can say it’s a problem this is a 50/50 game and that gophers aren’t clearly better. But when a team is better than you on both lines it isn’t a game you just show up and win.

To me, laying an egg is losing a game you should just show up and win.

Glad you cussed at me though. Hope it helped your mental health

This is just football, at the end of the day. USC, UCLA, Illinois all could have been losses and UNC, Michigan and Rutgers all could have been wins. Sucks that we couldn’t pull it out at the end but I’m still optimistic about the season going into the bye. Still have a chance to knock off Penn State on Senior Day and take back the axe against a middling Sconnie team. Lots to look forward to, unlike last year this team has shown resilience to adversity. No way they give up now.

OL didn't show up today. Defense CBs had trouble with big receivers and crossing routes while in zone.. But we had all kinds of chances in the second half to put the game away and didn't deliver results.
