Brian Bennett: 80 percent. There's a better-than-decent chance that Nebraska is in the title mix, especially since the Huskers host Wisconsin in early October. But I would almost guarantee that the final week will have division championship implications for either Minnesota or Wisconsin, and quite likely both. That's how it played out last year, and I think history will repeat. Of the many flawed teams in the West, the Gophers and Badgers have the fewest question marks.

After two solid wins in a row over Nebraska, and getting the huskers at home this season while they break in a new coach... most "experts" still rank the Gophers behind them. I get that some of this is due to the Gopher's schedule, but overall many of these "experts" are just basing their guesses on traditional power.

I have also seen a lot about how the Gophers will struggle to replace Maxx Williams and David Cobb. Luckily Nebraska doesn't have to replace Kenny Bell and Amir Abdulla.

I'd like to think they've gone through the schedule and based it on that, but not sure how much benefit of the doubt to give them.

Also I feel like we're seriously underselling the Tommy Armstrong switch to a pro style offense. He's going to be miserable in it.

Some of that has to do with how the media feels about the unproven talent behind those guys. Nebraska has recruited 'better' than us in terms of rankings and profile so they're assumed to have more talent. I think we also downplay how bad our skill position situation looks. Leidner isn't seen as a guy to carry the offense and last year our entire offense was basically Cobb and Williams. We lost both of them, our best deep threat in Jones and Fruechte who was arguably our best WR. So you take 3 of the top 4 pass catchers from a bad passing offense and the only RB that got significant carries and a national media guy is going on hopes and dreams to predict our offense is anything more than mediocre at best and can quite rationally say 'MN has a good D and ST but their offense may be one of the worst in the conference'.

Hopefully never. People complain all the time that the media gives coaches like Saban the benefit of the doubt regarding their talent. I don't want the media believing everything coaches say
