per Katz:

The weekend begins with UCLA, USC and Minnesota still working their way down their list as coaches across the country continue to remain in place.

Coaches are now staying more than leaving. Gonzaga's Mark Few, Pitt's Jamie Dixon, Butler's Brad Stevens, VCU's Shaka Smart and now the likes of Northern Iowa's Ben Jacobson, Memphis' Josh Pastner and even Iowa State's Fred Hoiberg are all comfortably staying put.

Why?

Each coach has their own reasons, but in discussing this topic with those who in the know, a few key points came up:

Go Gophers!!

TV has equalized a lot, most of these coaches have extremely strong bonds with the schools and communities they are at.

Sometimes it is better to dominate a niche than to extend beyond your means.

Touche. That's exactly what they said about Shaka last year. When you are entrenched in a place where you are almost guaranteed to have a top 3 finsh and good shot at the tournament every year, why would you risk it at a place where fininsing in the top 3 means you will need a top 10 in the nation program to do it?

Nothing new in the ESPN article. These guys are human and actually have more things than basketball in their lives they need to tend to. Remember even Kentucky got spurned by at least one, Billy Donovan, before they hired.

Yep. I wonder if the Michigan loss validated this for him.

We might not go the Flip route, but one interesting aspect of all this would be the presses reaction if did get Flip. They kind of shoved their foot in their mouths bashing us for firing Tubby, so I doubt they will gush over it like we hit a homerun or something, and I fear that they'll STILL poke fun of us for hiring him. I do believe that we'll have the last laugh though, if we hire Flip.
