per ESPN:

Team of the week: Minnesota's 29-12 victory against Northwestern was impressive. The Gophers' defense was exceptional, tallying a season-high seven sacks. They also denied Northwestern on two separate fourth-and-1 calls deep in Minnesota territory. Minnesota has quietly put together a solid 8-3 season and can play the role of spoiler against Wisconsin in the regular-season finale. This marks the third time in the last four seasons that Minnesota has won eight games -- and perhaps it will help head coach Tracy Claeys earn the contract extension he desires.

Big Man on Campus (defense): Minnesota linebacker Blake Cashman earns the nod after recording a career-high 10 tackles -- including nine solo tackles -- with two sacks and a forced fumble in the Gophers' win against Northwestern. Cashman's previous best this season was five tackles and two sacks against Purdue.
