per ESPN:

Notre Dame and Under Armour announced Tuesday that they have agreed to the most valuable shoe and apparel contract in college sports history.

The private school did not reveal the value of the 10-year deal, which will begin when its contract with adidas expires at the end of June, but sources told ESPN.com that the value of the deal, in cash and merchandise combined, is worth about $90 million.

That would make the deal worth more than the $82 million adidas is paying in cash and product to Michigan over 10 years.

The deal could eventually be worth even more to the Fighting Irish, as Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick noted that it allows the school to take some of the cash in company stock.

Go Gophers!!

Well, that is certainly interesting. I certainly am surprised that Under Armour is taking on a more traditional school, as for the majority of schools that are Under Armour, outside of Auburn, they seem to always have some goofy uni's and stuff. Maryland comes to mind first. But, Notre Dame is still Notre Dame. Will be interesting to see how UA treats a more "Traditional" program going forward.

Under Armour has maintained Auburn's traditional look, so Notre Dame's traditional look should be safe. Notre Dame, in the last years of its Adidas deal, wore some relatively radical uniform designs for its Shamrock Series games. So we should expect that to the be the forum for Under Armour doing something daring with the Irish.

Good call!

That's nice. A somewhat level playing field is awful for college sports. I suppose none of that makes its way into the pockets of the players; or that Notre Dame will put a good portion of that payout toward advancing their academics and lowering tuition for the rest of their student body.
