ESPN: Ravens hire former Gopher QB Marc Trestman as OC

The Baltimore Ravens hired former Chicago Bears coach Marc Trestman to be their offensive coordinator.

Trestman, 59, joins the Ravens after going 13-19 in two seasons with the Bears. He replaces Gary Kubiak, who was announced as the Denver Broncos' new coach Tuesday.

In all fairness, Trestman may turn out to be one of those coaches who does a good job as a coordinator, but for whatever reason, has trouble functioning as a head coach - at least in the NFL. He had a good record as a head coach in Canada - and by all accounts he's a pretty smart guy. I'm not sure anyone would have been able to pull a winning team out of that dumpster fire in Chicago.

Maybe Mike Grant is in the running for one of the co-ordinator jobs as well. Is Mike Grant an offensive or defensive specialist? I guess it really does not matter, since winning is winning, and his Eden Prairie results would translate seamlessly to the NFL in any position from Head Coach to nutrition and fitness consultant.
