It's outrageous that people are talking up Meyer as having re-built a team because the team was 6-7 the year before he joined. Yes, going 12-0 last year and undefeated this year (so far) is impressive no matter where you are. But it's not AS impressive as MSU being 9-1 or the Gophers being 8-2. Meyer inherited a metric gripton of talent from a 6-7 squad, spends less on recruiting than many other B1G schools yet still lands top-10 classes with ease, and has a program with a long history of winning.
Andersen has done well to keep the Badger train rolling, and while the ASU game was a screw job (though still no certainty of a win given their kicking game), they are 8-2 right now. With loads of O-line and RB talent, and a strong senior defensive core. Not deserving of the award considering they are 3-time Rose Bowl team (with one year being a major asterisk, obviously).
This race shouldn't be "who has the best record" - they already have honors for that (playing in the B1G CG, winning it and going to the Rose Bowl). It should award a coach/staff for doing an amazing job improving a team or winning in ways they shouldn't. Pre-season polls had OSU at #2 and expected them to go undefeated, perhaps 1 loss. MSU and UMN are far different and have greatly outplayed the predictions. It's Kill/Claeys or Dantonio.
