per ESPN:

Motivation level: Above average. The Gophers probably aren’t doing back flips about sneaking into the postseason with a losing record, and it’s certainly not the most prestigious opportunity in the Big Ten. But the bowl practices could prove quite useful for Claeys as he tries to put his stamp on the program and potentially build some momentum for his first offseason in charge of the Gophers.

on Central Michigan:

Motivation level: Bonamego and his Chippewas finished the year at 7-5 after a difficult stretch in September. There aren’t any specific factors to fire up the Chips, but after they played in one of the most entertaining bowl games of 2014 in the Bahamas, don’t be surprised if Central puts on a good show again.

Go Gophers!!

Above average motivation BEFORE any bulletin board material? Wow, once we get that our motivation will be off the charts. Watch out Chips - we comin'

This should be a good game - a lot of people will take Monday off for a long weekend and it's the second televised game that day. Chippewas are well coached and will give the Gophers a real challenge. Most at the game will probably be Michigan natives, so it will almost be a home game for Central Michigan, which is a couple of hours away from Detroit. The stadium is first rate.

No, we're human, remember? Nothing anyone does or says ever effects us. Football is not a physical game. Emotion and energy play absolutely no part in it. There is no intensity involved in a game of football.

Just read the Chips said we got lucky in 1987. I can't believe they don't know the can of whoop-ass that will open. Them are fighting words around here. Even I want to lace up the shoes now!

In beating CMU in 1987 by a 30-10 score, the Gophers ran for 278 yards and took 3 turnovers. Doesn't sound like luck to me.

Oh man....I hope they don't bus in a bunch of former players from that 1987 team to really get their players fired up. We won't stand a chance given the magnitude of this matchup and the bad blood from the 87 game.

The 1987 Gopher team had Rickey Foggie and Alan Holt at QB, along with Darrell Thompson at TB.
Not sure any of those guys even have any eligibility left! lol
