Love this!

per ESPN:

Notre Dame released its federal tax return Monday, and once again, the school paid former coach Charlie Weis more than current coach Brian Kelly.

The university gave Weis a payment of $2,054,744 for the reporting period of July 2014 through June 2015. Weis has received $16,912,123 since he was fired in November 2009. Notre Dame is scheduled for "additional annual payments" through December 2015, so one more payment means Weis' buyout money from the school will total $18,966,867.

Kelly received $1,624,730 for the 2014 reporting period, though that likely does not match his total earnings, as the school notes that "the current head football coach is permitted to receive compensation from external sources with prior written approval from the University." Income from a source such as a shoe company would not have to be reported on the tax forms. Kelly received $1,187,272 from Notre Dame in the previous reporting period.

Go Gophers!!

Good on Weis and his agent negotiating the crap out of that contract. Notre Dame looks pretty stupid, which is a nice bonus for me.

It is stuff like us not paying former coaches tons of money that keeps us from being successful.....

His contract extension came at a weird time too.

He had done well, but hardly had EPIC CONTRACT written all over him (unless he did that) and ND threw a huge amount of money at him over 10 years.

The alums who actually pay most of the coach's salary wanted to keep a white catholic guy after they ran out of town a Black guy.

You have to compare him to Bill O'Brien (Texans) though.

Terrible in retrospect, but he brought Notre Dame back from the dead to almost beat a team who was widely considered (at the time) one of the greatest of all time (USC).

He also was New England guy who everyone thought would leave for the pros.

Notre dame boosters probably prefer paying a huge buyout to a crappy guy to losing a great guy to the NFL.

Heck, BOB left for the NFL with a similar resume to Weis but with less college success.

Charlie Weis' eating habits were more disturbing to me, as I found out listening to DA on CBS Radio yesterday. He liked to eat the white bread used to soak up bacon grease at the Patriots team meals. Ugh...
