per ESPN:
Listed at just 5-foot-10, Maye showed this season that he's not just a slot receiver. He operated on the outside as the team's No. 1 weapon and also had the ability to move around the field later in the year as defenses paid extra attention to him. He also returned kicks and punts, adding to the versatility that may appeal to NFL scouts.
"I'm pretty sure I caught a lot of guys' eyes this year," he said. "I'm sure they didn't know what to expect out of me or what to look for. Being able to have that type of year I had and to do it in different ways was a big deal."
Maye has one last item on his to-do list: getting an invitation to the Senior Bowl. He grew up in Mobile, Ala., and played his high school games at Ladd-Peebles Stadium, which is where the Senior Bowl is held. He remembers making the short trip over to the stadium with his high school teammates to watch college stars practice each year.
He hasn't gotten an invite yet, but as a local player he has a decent shot of being added to the roster. A big bowl performance certainly would help.
"I really want to make sure he has another good game," Leidner said. "That just helps his résumé to get down there and play in the Senior Bowl. That's how I'm looking at it."
If the rest of Minnesota's players can play with Maye's level of commitment, the Gophers should be just fine against Central Michigan.
