per ESPN:

Lane Kiffin, who has resurrected Florida Atlantic's football program in just one season, has agreed to a new 10-year deal with the Owls.

"This is further proof of FAU's unbridled ambition," FAU president Dr. John Kelly told ESPN on Tuesday.

Florida Atlantic (10-3) faces Akron on Tuesday night in the Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl and has won nine straight games after capturing the Conference USA championship earlier this month.

The 10 wins are the most in program history for the Owls in their 13 years as an FBS school. Prior to Kiffin's arrival, FAU had suffered through three straight 3-9 seasons.

"We are grateful that the president and university are this excited about what we are doing here at FAU and into the future, although our focus remains completely on the team and this historic season finale tonight on ESPN," Kiffin told ESPN on Tuesday.

Go Gophers!!

I saw a tweet that out of state enrollment applications are up 35% and the president believes that is solely due to Kiffin.

I just wiped myself with toilet paper that has more value than Kiffin's signature on that contract.

Your feces-laden toilet paper is worth the value of whatever buyout Kiffin agreed to if/when he leaves during the course of the contract? You have some valuable sh1t!

I'm glad that young Kiffin is finally living up to the great potential he's always had. I guess he needed some seasoning.

I wanted the U to hire Kiffin way back when Mason was fired, but ensuing events showed that that would have been a mistake.

Yes (I buy very high-end TP). There is 0% chance he lasts there 5 years, let alone 10. And he wouldn't pay a cent of that buyout out of his own pocket should he be hired elsewhere.

I've always enjoyed Lane Kiffin. He seems like a bit of a scoundrel or rogue, but in a likeable way.

More likely with Lane, he has probably broken a bunch of rules and will bolt before the heat really comes down on him. Hopefully FAU was smart with how they structured the buyout because there is little to no doubt that Kiffin will jump ship the second a quality opportunity comes his way.

Kiffin's shtick is still pretty bush league and P5 schools aren't going to jump to hire him with his track record. I'll put the over/under at 3.5 years.

Interesting, he has the 124 rated recruiting class with 6 commitments and four are JC's.

No Year Zero? Won without his own recruits?

Most wins in program's (short) history. Undefeated in conference play for first time. Conference Champs. Huh...

Wonder if this extension was due to concerns that he might not be there when new recruits graduate...

AND they get to play in something called the Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl!

Might want to check his recruiting class for this year.

I've changed my opinion of him a bit this year.
Watched an interview with Tom Rinaldi and him earlier.
He seems to have found a place where he is enjoying what he does.
He seems to be maturing and recognizing the mistakes he made as a younger coach.

I kind of agree with you there. He was offered the world when he really didn't know what he was doing.

He should have had more time in the mid-majors (where mistakes might not have microscopes on them) and he is now getting that time.

I hope PJ has already done his learning and doesn't end up the same.

They turned down a better bowl to play at "home". Not sure how good an idea it was but there you go.

You know there are some people how say that they've never had a bad experience at a Bowl game. ;)

"“Sometimes bowl games are tough to travel to,” Kiffin said. “Some fans don’t get to go. To be right here, it’s awesome. Competitively speaking, it’s a home-field advantage. The only downside is for the players that they don’t get to go somewhere else.”"

No one argued otherwise. So are you finally admitting that his signature on the contract has value?

Finally? Was this a long ongoing debate? Looked like 4-posts from start-to-finish. Come on DPO!

I didn't look into it in detail but I recall he/his school was a landing spot for some pretty good players that transferred out or got the boot from some other P5 schools.

Not sure that is a sustainable model, but we'll see.

I'm not so sure of that...last 3-4 recruiting classes had a lot of 2*. Kiffin took that group of recruits and won more games in one season than they won in the previous three combined.

They have the most talent in Conference USA with 38 3*s, a couple of 4*s.
