I used to cringe as the Gophers appeared on the ESPN bottom 10 for several weeks in each of the last two seasons. Not there and no worries about being there now... baby steps.

I clicked on it today and wasn't surprised to see UNLV on the list. However, I have to admit I was pretty surprised to see ESPN considers our Gophers to be one of UNLV's two most "winnable games" this season.

The icing on the cake is the references to Iowa and Wisconsin in the "Waiting List".;)

He considers Minnesota one of UNLV's most winnable games? I know we have been bad but "most winnable"?

Colorado St. and New Mexico are more winnable for sure.

I didn't take it as a slight. Maybe he's using hindsight. When you take a team to overtime, you can deduce that the game was very winnable (for either team).

I think the B1G is lucky Arkansas had the big choke job vs ULM, or the B1G would be #5 collectively.

There's winnable in the sense that you look at a game in advance and judge it to be winnable, and there's winnable in the sense where after the fact you observe that the team had a good chance of winning. They often aren't the same thing. You can really only talk about which game was the most winnable in the latter sense after the season is done.

That UNLV game is a head-scratcher. If we score on that first drive, we probably win by 20. We let them get life and gave them the feeling they could win.

Not if the Gophers couldn't eliminate their 11 penalties too.

We should have the #1 spot reserved for the rest of the season.

LOL at the little blurb on Kansas. I'm curious to see how Weis does there.

We know your pain, brother.

And I also did not take that as a shot against the gophers. We beat UNLV in OT and they lost to the FCS by three. It may have been the writer pointing out that they had a decent shot to win these two games. And honestly, who cares. We will get respect when we represent the conference well. So far so good, but let's not get ahead of ourselves......we have had a few brutal years recently.

How weren't we a winnable game? They almost won, lol...

Colorado st will pound unlv, NDSU would be #2 in the mountain west.

Yes it's great to never see gophs in that anymore lets keep that up !

UNLV hung with Washington St. last night and lost by just 8. I've got to believe Washington St. is better than Colorado St.

We were *CLEARLY* the better team then UNLV... everything bounced their way for us to lose that game & we still pulled away with a W...

Not to mention our Defense held them to 13 regulation points.... Our Offense was clicking, they couldn't stop the running game & the only thing that kept the score close was Gray missing his targets... if he hits a third of his wide open targets we're not even having this discussion...

Colorado's loss 69-14 (down 55-7 at halftime) has to be worse than any Gopher loss in my lifetime. (I was a junior during the Nebraska 84-13 game so I've seen some lousy play.) No doubt, they will take over #1 from Mass.

Yup.

My favorite is always the Waiting List:

Waiting list: Kicking; Hollywood besting Silicon Valley; Utah field rush I; Utah field rush II; Arkansas capitulation; Ole Miss tackling; Virginia Tech fundamentals; USF turnovers; Louisville's fourth-quarter focus; Wisconsin's field goal fortune.:)

I think last week the Bottom 10 referred to MN as one of UNLV's "most winnable games" and this week they reinforce that statement with the following suggestion MN was an easier opponent than the foes UNLV will face in the Mountain West:

"UNLV's first three games, all played at home, comprised of an FCS opponent and two BCS teams with 12 combined wins over the past two years. The losses came by a total of 14 points. The Rebels' schedule only gets less forgiving, so they might come to rue the time in the season when opportunity knocked, and they didn't answer. ("Nothing else for me to say, and so I'll close. But by the way, everybody's thinking of you.")

I don't ever want to see the Gophers or any of our opponents on this list. Can you let this thread die now? Nothing good can come from it.

Two SEC teams are on there. That should make all of you happy.

How about you just quit clicking on it? Problem solved.

Who the hell pissed in your Cheerios this morning? Jesus. First you whine in this thread, and then you come over to my thread and act like a little bitch. Get over yourself and don't read if the thread topics bother you so.
