ESPN Blog: Tubby Smith plans to 'finish career' at UM

Great news

Great news, I love the fact even though this season and last season have not worked out with injuries and all, that next year looks great. Every year since Tubby has been here things have looked on paper to be better than the year before. Starting next fall I think we will be a top 25 team till Tubby retires, I thought this before but this time I think I am right.

Thanks Tubby and go get Brooks and Welch! 2011-2012 a crazy good team!

"That's about as unequivocal as rumor-killing statements get, isn't it?"

I was glad to see the quote in Sid's column - as much as anything so we can talk about this subject less now...maybe. Oops, I guess I'm talking about it now.

the scary thing is this reporter using Sid's column as his source. Is this column the only one of Sid's he has ever read? You can read 3 consecutive columns and get 3 completely different sides to a debate sometimes.
That being said I don't think Tubby is going anywhere and that is good.

Good! Stability is always a good thing, especially when recruiting. Now hopefully can not just get into a big recruit's living room who otherwise wouldn't consider MN because of his name, but they can now feel somewhat assured that Tubby will be here to coach them.

Completely agree and want Tubby to stay.

I would question Tubbys ability to get into a top recruits living room based on his name. Tubby won the national championship when prospective high school seniors were toddlers. Yes, he has been pretty accomplished since the championship, but there are a lot of coaches with better or at least similiar accomplishments that recruits may be more aware of.

Psssst. Judging from the uninspired coaching we've seen this season, Tubby's career might already be finished. Decent man, good reputation, but is there any fire in the belly?
