I think we're all aware of what needs to happen for us to make the Big Ten Championship game. The odds are against us, but it's still cool to see us amongst these 4 teams with only 2 weeks left in the regular season.

Legends Division

Still standing: Michigan State (6-0 Big Ten) and Minnesota (4-2). Note: Nebraska can tie for the Legends title but cannot make the Big Ten championship game because of its head-to-head losses against both the Spartans and Gophers.

The path ahead: Michigan State had clinched at least a share of the Legends title, and its magic number for winning the division is one. If the Spartans win this week against Northwestern, or if Minnesota loses to Wisconsin, Mark Dantonio's team will go to Indianapolis. If Michigan State loses and the Gophers win this week, that will set up a winner-take-all season finale between the two teams in East Lansing on Nov. 30.

Hopefully my two favorite B1G coaches can coax big wins out of their teams on Saturday.

Agree the odds are against it happening but it would be pretty cool to head to East Lansing next week with a shot at the title game on the line. Mentioned in another thread but this is the beauty of the division setup vs. one big pool of teams. Under the old format it would basically be a two team race between MSU and OSU with Wisconsin as a longshot given their head to head loss to OSU.

I've been saying for a while now, and I'm sure people are sick of hearing it (sorry...kinda...not really), but you're playing for stuff that matters at the end of the year, and that's what Kill brings. The coverage today has exploded, finally. And, it kinda adds to the thrill, at least for me, to do some scoreboard watching. It's hard for me to remember the last time I was this jacked up for a football game. And, darned proud because of the collection of players and coaches we have. Pretty cool.

On the subject of scoreboard watching an interesting dynamic to Saturday is that with the MSU/Northwestern game starting at 11, by the time we take the field against Wisconsin the title shot dreams may be very much alive or all but dead depending on what is going on in that game.

Man, that would be AWESOME! Let's beat Wisky on Saturday!

That was already mentioned when the game times were announced, but since you brought it up again I got to thinking...I wonder if it would be a letdown for the Gophers to know MSU won. I also wonder if it might not be an emotional boost if they announce a NW win on the PA during pregame...

I'd be concerned if it was a game against Northwestern or Nebraska or someone. A rivalry game that we haven't won in 9 years on the other hand does not have me concerned that this will happen.

this^. if you can't get up for this game then you have issues

Yeah, you're right. It won't have a bearing on the outcome. But, it's also a young team and few on the 2-deep are Minnesota natives. Do Donovahn or Drew or hate Wisc.? On the other hand, there are plenty this rivalry game will be very important to. Brock said this week about the rivalry that it doesn't matter what you've done to this point. He's a senior from Calif. I wonder if he could have made that statement as a freshman. His statement also tells me he's less concerned about the B1G title and more concerned with taking a Badger pelt.
