per ESPN:

The Big Ten’s defensive backs don’t want your sympathy.

So what if this is the best crop of B1G quarterbacks since at least 1986? Who cares if three conference quarterbacks are projected to go within the first seven picks of the 2016 NFL draft?

The Big Ten’s DBs sure don’t. They welcome the unprecedented challenge. They embrace it.

As the season approaches, few have focused on the Big Ten’s class of defensive backs. Instead, chatter has increased on the conference’s historic class of quarterbacks -- on Connor Cook's poise, Christian Hackenberg's arm strength, and the dual nature of a J.T.Barrett/Cardale Jones combo. The B1G hasn’t had a quarterback taken in the first round of the NFL draft since 1995, and four (including Nate Sudfeld) have earned labels as “first-round projections” for 2016. Last season was the Year of the Running Back, but this season appears to be all about the quarterback.

That’s not lost on the conference’s defensive backs either. But they seem to relish it.

“It’s a great feeling,” Minnesota cornerback Briean Boddy-Calhoun said about the strong QB class. “They’re not going to be scared to throw your way. They’re actually going to challenge you, which is good.”
