per ESPN:

Each week this season, a group of three replay officials huddle in a locked room at Big Ten headquarters in Rosemont, Illinois. No one is allowed in or out of the room while they monitor one or two games involving Big Ten teams.

Those replay officials are given video feeds of the game but no sound, and their job is to make decisions on which calls made on the field should or should not be overturned. And then to file those decisions away for future research.

The Big Ten is studying, but not using, a centralized replay system, as the ACC and SEC switched to this season. For now, the league is relying on its own unique approach, initialized this fall, that sees the head referee and on-site replay officials working closely together.

Big Ten officials call it "collaborative replay," and if you've watched any league games this year, you've probably noticed the referee going to a computerized tablet when a call is sent upstairs. That allows him to view all of the camera shots that are being reviewed and offer his input on the call. Bill Carollo, the coordinator of Big Ten officials, says the system has shown some positive results through six weeks.
