I don't have an Insider subscription, but here is a tid-bit:

It was his fourth visit to Minnesota but the first time in-state defensive end Andrew Stelter (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonn) got to sit in Jerry Kill’s office before the game. In fact, the Minnesota coach told Stelter no other prospect has had that opportunity all season.

Kill brought Stelter in his office for good reason, too. He wanted to offer the 6-foot-4, 245-pound junior a scholarship.

“It was pretty cool for them to do that for me,” Stelter said, “and it shows how special I am to them.”

Go Gophers!!

Here you go:

“It felt awesome. All the hard work I put in and to finally get my first offer out of the way, it’s just awesome,” he said.

Never a Gophers fan growing up, Stelter started to grow a liking for Minnesota over the last year so once his recruitment began. All four of his visits to Minnesota have come this year, and that has helped foster not only a relationship with Minnesota's coaches but a passion for the program.

“I really like the coaches. I feel like I’m personable with all of them,” he said. “They have nice facilities, the locker room is awesome, huge, and the stadium is sweet.

“And it’s cool it’s my home state and maybe I’ll get a chance to play in front of those fans,” he said.

Stelter has also visited Nebraska and Wisconsin this season and could visit Iowa on Saturday. All three programs are showing interest in Stelter, who estimates he has nine sacks this season

Not a gopher fan growing up? Hmmmm. Hopefully we can change his mind about that.

Anyone who grows up in MN and has an interest in football should be a Gopher fan. ZERO EXCEPTIONS.

We have a fundamental problem.

I have a buddy to which I discuss this with all the time. He graduated from St. Cloud State and hates the Gophers in all sports. I told him that is fine for sports they compete in like hockey. However football is different and all born and raised Minnesotans should be a Gopher fan for college football. It is our only D1 team. I text him score updates all the time to keep him abreast of how our Gophers are doing.

I think the spill-over effect from hockey is greater than many people realize. Thanks hockey.

I grew up in Duluth and my folks had UMD hockey season tickets. Love Bulldog hockey and hated the Gophers. That being said, we loved Gopher basketball and football. Guess we were raised right lol

Or maybe Duluth folks are smarter than St Cloud folks.:)

Well their is that too..

I never go the spelling police route but if you are going to respond to a post saying Duluth fans are smarter than St. Cloud fans make sure you use the right version of there....

He is holding out for an offer from the Badgers. he has heard that the college game day experience in Madison is the best in the world and that people wear red and white. last sat., Brent Musberger gushing re: Manhattan KS was stupid.

Same here. Grew up in Duluth, loved Bulldog hockey (didn't quite hate Gopher hockey-would have rooted for them against anyone but the 'Dogs), but absolutely loved Gopher basketball and football. I mean, hey, I'm a Minnesotan! I'm not sure how you grow up in Minnesota and have total antipathy for all-things-Gopher. Just not right.
