I just spoke to Ernie Heifort, a talented senior from Bemidji who visited Minnesota this weekend. He told me that he has committed to Minnesota as a preferred walk-on and will move to tight end, where they have seniors Eure and Lair. He feels that if he works hard he can earn a scholarship the next year.

I'll post the interview later tonight. I'm headed out the door to go to the Gopher hoops game.

great news. I don't think Ernie warrants a scholly right now, but I sure hope he comes in and improves upon his raw abilities and talent to turn himself into a scholarship player in a year or two.

I think he has a bright future on this team. I don't know if it will be at tight end but I think we will be seeing a lot of him in a couple years.

Didn't realize he was being considered for offense, but awesome.
Nice to see kids from Bemidji making it to the U.

Great news, really like seeing these in state kids stay home.
Welcome Ernie

Glad to hear it! I hope he outworks everyone and earns a scholarship in a year or two.

Crafty move by Kill, and a great opportunity for Ernie. Excellent all around.

This is the type of commitments Minnesota needs to start landing at a regular rate late in the game. I say that in the fact instead of losing these type of kids to the D-II and D-IAA local schools, it is good to hold onto some to develop.

Outstanding, welcome aboard Ernie!

I agree with everyone else.. Great to keep the MN kids in state! Welcome aboard Ernie!!

Welcome aboard Ernie! Great job Coach Kill and staff. Are we beginning to see those boarders close down?

Great news. We know you belong at the U Ernie. Now it's time to show everyone else.
