Eric Lair after MSU game: "We just believe no one can really stop us"

Does he also think we are going to the Rose Bowl this year? Drugs perhaps?

He's obviously kidding. Good article, proves that Gray gives the team a change in energy.

I like that comment. It tells me that young Mr. Lair and teammates buy into the offense. The part that is missing is the players believing that they can properly excecute the system.

Lair was obviously talking about being "cocky, etc" with Gray at QB...the way the article is written though, it doesn't qualify the quote very well, and it makes it sound like he just said "no one can stop us" in general. Bad journalism.

Weber can't feel very good about the article though. He has a had a good career here with lots of records, etc, but if I were him, I would volunteer myself to play H-back, or a little TE for our last two games, just for fun. Ultimately, it would probably be good for the program as a whole, to have some bigger bright spots to finish the season up with Gray running around and maybe scoring some touchdowns.

A young man telling us that he is still interested in playing and is confident. A player we want.

I don't understand why people expect the players to say "yeah we haven't done much this year and I expect us to lose the rest of our games." I like Lair's approach better.

Good article. I mean at this point they are playing for absolutely nothing so they might as well have some fun out there & enjoy the games. There's really no pressure to win any of the remaining games so I think it's great that they can go out there & at least have a positive aura about themselves, no point in being doom & gloom...

Lair is excited about the chance to play with Gray at QB

This has as much to say about the excitement that Gray can offer as some of the players like Lair see the upside and the potential to make plays out of broken plays and be a real "pain in the A$$" to the defense to stop the offense with Gray leading them at QB. You could see the energy level was higher when he was in there.
Lair and guy's like him are excited for the future because they see that Gray's talent can elevate the play of everyone else and energy on the field once he get's his chance. The phrase "nobody can stop us" is taken out of context, and is not as literal as this is being taken. Gray has elite athletic ability this might help us score more points and stay on the field more in the future. All is speculation but they see "light" and want to compete with him running the show. I like that. We have seen Northwestern QB's and many QB's make plays in this conference and help there team with there running ability. Gray will be hard to tackle if given the chance.

too bad they can't execute any plays, stop anyone on defense, etc.

these games are absolutely painful to watch. frankly our team is quite easily the worst fbs team and probably a lower half fcs team-wake me up next Sept. Beyond bad. Just dreadful.

A young man telling us that he is still interested in playing and is confident. A player we want.

Absolutely. Think of how mad all of you are and how sick you feel after every game, and then mutliply that by 100 for the players on this team (although I suppose many of you may even dispute that comment). I for one am happy to hear Eric say something like this, because we need them to stay committed to this program and work hard for better days.

I cannot believe the level of delusion around here. I love how every dumb quote gets spun into something it's not.

Well it's like now embarrassing themselves every game isn't enough and they need to continue through the post game pressers as well.

It is a very odd quote. But I think everyone understands what he means.

Unless, of course, they don't want to understand.

Lair and McKnight have been the biggest surprises to me this season. If they have good senior seasons, my guess is they'll at least get a chance with an NFL team.

The problem is that after the USD loss, Brewster should have made the change to Grey and the future.. had he done that he would have been the coach through the whole season and maybe beyond.. He fell on his sword over Weber.. huge mistake on his part
