WHAT: EFMN’s rally at the “Gopher Victory Walk” where people affected by seizures will gather to show their support as Coach Kill and the players walk into TCF Bank Stadium for the September 21st game against San Jose State.

DETAILS: Saturday, September 21 at 8:30 a.m. Rally will be on Oak Street between TCF Bank Stadium & Mariucci Arena.

WHO: Rally attendees will receive “JERRYSOTA” t-shirts to show their support during the game.

This is just all the more reason to make it over to the Gopher Victory Walk at 8:30am this Saturday. If you were already planning on going to it, great. If not but are going to the game, why not show up at the Victory Walk and lend your support to Coach Kill and the Epilepsy Foundation of MN. And hey....you even get a FREE t-shirt out of it too! A win/win! :D

This Foundation gets marketing and public relations. They are not only supporting someone that lives with the affliction, they are making it visible and educational. I love it!!

+1. I am really intrigued to learn more about the Epilepsy Foundation of MN and see if there are ways I can further support its mission, fundraising, outreach efforts.

They do a walk every year to raise money. I'm thinking of doing it and wearing my maroon and gold!

I'm completely in support of the work the Epilepsy Foundation is doing here, and likewise I'm a big fan of what Coach Kill has done so far, but is anyone else really bothered by the "Jerrysota" shirts, chants, etc? They did the same sort of gimmicks with student section shirts for Tubby and even Brew, and its starting to bug me. I'm not at the stadium every Saturday to cheer on Jerry, I'm there to cheer on the Gophers. Its lazy PR at best, and starting to get a little creepy at worst. I've seen othero games around the conference and elsewhere and I haven't seen coach-worship on this level anywhere else...does anyone else know if this goes on at other schools? Esp with unproven coaches?

yep. it is just terrible to admire a coach, his demeanor, his style, how he carries himself and his resonating message. for anyone to want to show that admiration publicly, with something as simple as a t-shirt, is just stupid and cultist.....as it seems you may be implying. with all the a-holes in sports and in life these days it is refreshing to see a gentleman who lives his life pretty much in service to others like coach kill does. i think he is a role model for many people. not just gopher fans.

my goodness, dude. think this stuff through a little more.

too bad my cousins wont wake up until 9 so guess we can't go. Somebody grab one for me please.

I actually think Kill would agree with you somewhat. He said it yesterday in his press conference, in the end it's all about the players. I'm sure he loves the attention and support the Epilepsy Foundation is getting, but I guarantee if we win on Saturday and Kill is asked about the "Jerry" chants and all the support he got, he'll credit the players. That's how it should be IMO, and as fans of this team let's not forget about them.

Not only do I think it's fine to admire a coach, I personally admire Kill quite a bit, and honestly can't think of more than a handful of coaches in the world I'd rather have coaching the Gophers right now. But I felt the same way about Tubby Smith a few years ago, and while I think he's a good guy and I wish him all the best, I'm not going to be going to any Texas Tech games (or wearing any Texas Tech t-shirts) in the foreseeable future.
