News flash: the team is depleted! Its amazing to me they come as close as they have in these games.

Yah, you are probably right. Just amazing though to be so close in almost every game and not pull off a single one of them. That is what has everyone so frustrated.
I don't want him fired either. I think he is about as good as we can hope for, for our program. Hopefully next year's freshman guards are as good as advertised, because it is obvious that is what we are lacking. College basketball is about guards and 3 point shooting nowadays. We have neither right now.

It's amazing to you that the Gophers "came close" in a game at home against MSU or on the road at PSU?
I'd agree with you if the Gophers somehow just lost a close game to Purdue or Ohio State, but they just collapsed in epic fashion on their home court in a must win game against a very marginal MSU team that couldn't make a 3 tonight.

Totally agree with you Block M. But keep in mind that all of the bitching being done by the frustrated jock syndrome commentors will only grow. That does not mean they know anything.

for the majority of this board these were all winnable games. games they were expected to win regardless of the current make up of the team. now we are amazed that they even came close in these games. can't have it both ways.

It's true this team has had off court issues. But that doesn't mean the coaching staff didn't give this one away. It's possible to have unforeseen setbacks and still win close games.

Hopefully the NCAA committee takes 'came close to winning' into consideration next month.

Tubby's just fine i'm not making excuses but we are inexperienced, and young after cobbs, joseph, and nolen issues. Hopefully before all is lost this team can get some discipline and not run fast breaks with a 7-point lead with only 2:32 to go. win two out of the next three and 1-2 big ten tourney games and we're a lock.

Ask yourself this...when was the last time you watched the Gophers and thought to yourself:

"The Gophers are the better coached team here."

Have you ever, even once, felt that way since Tubby got here?

Yes. Many times, moron. Tubby is not Brewster.

Personally, I think Tubby is a good, not great, coach, but the team is just void of talent. Every player on the roster is more suited to a role player, and there is no one that can score the basketball. Chip was the closest thing to that tonight, IMO...

You cant plan for injuries or defections, but I do think going into the season if you said Joseph, Nolen, and Walker would be out that the expectations would not have been to make the NCAA's. That is losing 3 of your top 9 players and 2 of your top 4, most teams that do not have a star to fall back on would be devastated if this happened.
