The Golden Gophers enter the second year of the P.J. Fleck era with expectations of a bowl game appearance, but not much more than that.

Fleck signed the No. 7 ranked recruiting class in the Big Ten, but must find a new starting quarterback after Demry Croft transferred to Tennessee State in the offseason. The Gophers were already one of the worst passing teams in the country last season, averaging just 126.1 yards per game through the air, and breaking in a new quarterback will only add to the growing pains in the passing game.

The Gophers do catch Ohio State in the middle of its easiest part of the conference schedule, so there is a chance Fleck's team could catch the Buckeyes napping. However, those chances are more likely a few years down the road once Fleck has had a chance to build his program more.

Go Gophers!!

Can't really be bulletin board material when the gophers have no shot at being competitive in this game. It's going to be blowout city and I'd be surprised if the gophers get any offense going at all against Ohio State's monstrous D-Line.

We have no idea how good theyll be. They got blown out by Iowa last year.

That was bonkers. Any other day and tOSU dumps Iowa upside down in a dumpster but that day.... nope.

They are young and talented every year. We have no idea what they’ll have at QB. And we have no idea how good we’ll be. Low chance we will win but way too early to say no chance to be competitive?.

Very good, they'll be very good. They are top 5-6ish every year and things don't change much in that regard. If we were Wisconsin/Michigan State, maybe that would mean having a better shot, but that's not the case. The Ohio State game still spells blowout.

Right, but even very good teams quite frequently lose games they shouldn't. Looking at just Ohio St. - as mentioned, they got drilled by Iowa last year and lost to a very mediocre Virginia Tech team in 2015. You are free to think that there's no chance (and will probably end up being right), but far stranger things have happened just with Ohio St. alone.
