per the Journal Gazette:

Don't read too much into the fact that when No. 1 units took the practice field on Thursday, Jalen Whitlow was the Eastern Illinois quarterback.

Especially, you Minnesota football coaches.

Friend or foe, don't expect an announcement as to whether senior Andrew Manley, who quarterbacked New Mexico State to a 28-21 win over Minnesota in 2011 before transferring to EIU last year, or Whitlow, who transferred from Kentucky this summer, has won this preseason competition.

“No, we'll let the University of Minnesota football team figure that out,” EIU coach Kim Dameron said.

Go Gophers!!

We'll we have plenty if film on one QB and the other is a frosh, right? Plus preppin for dual QB teams like NW and themselves having been coaches of dual QB teams for years means I doubt they'll lose a ton of sleep on this

Yeah well Kill and Co. are going to keep them guessing. They'll need to figure out if we're going to run right or run left. To really keep them on their toes, we might take it up the gut. Take that Coach Dameron. :p

Go Gophers!!

It will be nice to finally have a defense good enough where they won't care who you throw out there. We can just play base defense and win, especially against EIU.

Honestly, against Eastern Illinois, I expect us to pound them even if we tell them every plan we run before we run it.

Really appreciate the heads-up, now we know enough to prepare for both.

And in return... the Gophers will start with 11 on defense. Hope this helps, Coach Dameron?

I remember Manley, but not for his play. I believe he made an errant throw and the PA guy had fun with it saying "That was a Manley pass attempt."
Okay. I chuckled. I'm easy.

The guess work will be over after Thieren Cockran sends the starter to the bench on the first 3rd down.
