Eight Different Conferences in the Elite Eight?

If UNC, OSU KU, & VCU win, there will be eight different conferences represented in the Elite Eight. Has that ever happened in the 64-68 team era?

Not sure about the answer to your question, but it really shows the parity in college basketball today. It's great for the game.

Interestingly enough, the Southeast conference is the most likely to have two. Southeast and Pac-10 seem to be have better top teams than anticipated.
