Hoke: Pay raise
Mullen: Significant pay raise
Edsall: New job, pay raise
Kill: New job, pay raise

Looks like those associated with our search have done pretty well for themselves. Minnesota just keeps on giving!

Lateral move for Edsall imo, like O'Brien going from BC to NCST a few years back.

I think it will be interesting to see how Edsall will do in more fertile recruiting territory. Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia sure produce a lot more kids than Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York.

Leach: Still unemployed.

Mason: Still has the whitest teeth of all of the college football commentators.

What happened to the Leach to Maryland thing, that was reported like it was a done deal. The rumor mill in college football is awful.

Mason's wife is a Dentist. He gets teeth whitening for free.

That damn Maturi.

Should be interesting. If I was a Maryland fan, I would not be too happy about canning a guy who went 75-50 (43-37 in the ACC) for a guy who is 74-70. (22-26 in the Big East).

Does not make much sense. But, Gene Chizik to Auburn did not make much sense either, so we will have to see.

If I was a Maryland fan I would be really disappointed that Leach sounded like and done deal and ended up with Randy Edsall.

I tend to agree. Ralph Friedgen was hardly chopped liver (although he probably ate his share of it). As for Leach, my guess is he's the rumor du jour in the coaching sweepstakes these days.

Leach should be a serious candidate for the Pittsburgh job. He could go to Pirate games all summer.

Head-

As I posted on another thread, Leach was more than a rumor du jour at Maryland. One of Maryland's big boosters is the founder of Under Armour. Texas Tech was an Under Armour school and he is tight with Leach. It all seemed to make sense.

Friedgen was the victim of a new AD wanting to put his stamp on the program. I have no issues with the move to oust Friedgen after 10 years if the AD wants to move forward, but to replace him with Edsall just does not seem to be the best option.

Nailed it.

Go over to baltimoresun.com for Terps fan meltdown.

WaPo reporting Leach interviewed well but faction on SC was against Leach hire and effectively ended his candidacy.

What does that say about Mike Leach? I can't see Pitt going after him seeing they are so quick to fire Haywood.

Both their baggage is different, but baggage is baggage.

I realize that. I'm just saying that every time there is an opening in the next month (and next year), Leach's name will be among the first offered up as a possible candidate.

Water under the bridge.

Why did Maryland get rid of the Fridge for Edsall?

The part which was played by Joel Maturi will now be performed by Maryland AD Kevin Anderson

I would argue that Anderson has one-upped Maturi in the chucklehead department. From the outside, it looks like he fired Friedgen figuring that hiring Leach wasn't going to be a big deal. Then he woke up one morning and realized he was a little further down the chain-of-command than he had first imagined.

Maturi has made some odd decisions, but I don't think he's ever had a mental lapse that made him forget who signs his checks.

I think Maturi is a little too careful this way. A few more cajones would serve him, and us, well.
