Just saying for those who may want to take a look.

Sounds very much like its Edsall

Barf. Just not a big fan. I don't think he is a bad coach, just expecting much more than this.

He is the hot name right now and this close to the announcement I suspect its true.

Just makes me want to yawn, at best.

I flipped over late in the 1/2 half and I caught the last couple sentences of a discussion about how bad UCONN would be if it weren't for the two basketball coaches they have that keep them in the news. Then the play-byplay guy said something about starting over.

No idea what they were talking about to start with.

If he's the guy, he's got to tell the team after the game tonight, right?

did he announce hes leaving ???

just turned it on and the announcer just said in reference to UCONN's offense, "runs the power i as good as anyone in the country. Reminds me of the old Wisconsin Badgers and Barry Alverz." Sounds like Badger Joel got his man!

Announcers just said, on UCONN, "Reminds me of the old Wisconsin teams with Barry Alvarez" ... sounds like Maturi's man.

Bob Davie just said that UConns offense reminds him of Wisconsin with Barry Alvarez.
If Maturi heard that, it's a done deal.

For what it's worth, Edsall would be considered a huge hire by most college football experts. BCS head coach who just led his team to a league championship and a BCS bowl game goes to Minnesota? Huge hire in most people's eyes.

Maybe the Holers know better, however.

I'm rooting for Petersen, but Edsall is pretty friggin good.

Agreed 100%

I'll take a BSC Bowl coach.

If he's a Glen Mason that can manage a game/make adjustments/recruit defense, I'll take that.

+1 on this.

I'm fine with Edsall. He's not an "OMG" hire but if he wants to come here, is hungry to win and to make a name for himself in the Big Ten - welcome aboard!

Wonder how many "casual" sports fans in MN know who Randy Edsall is?

Me too. We have to have some measure of reality here. I can't even imagine a scenario where a Chris Petersen would come here. Edsall, I would think, has to be right up there at the top of candidates actually willing to come to Minnesota.

If he's a Mason that can recruit/manage a game plan and play defense, he's no Mason!

If he brings a kicker like UCONN's, that's an improvement right there.

Just looked at Rival.com and they confirm it's a done deal, too. Also looked at UConn's recruiting for the last four years and it's terrible. 2-4 three stars a year. What's Edsall's rep as a recruiter?

Not good recruiting rankings, but as other have stated ... it has been at UCONN. Harder to recruit there than it would have been for Mason at the dome.

Looking at his recruits for next year they are mostly local kids with a kid or two from Georgia and FL. I'd guess he'd come in and bring in a bunch of local kids and do what he did at UCONN, coach 'em up.
